right now, i dont know which console i should buy..ps3 or xbox360
so far all i can see there is a lot of xbox360 games sell in the shop..
and ps3 is too expensive to buy but it is worth one u play its games..
so any suggestion? ps3 or xbox360?

Does it have the games I like or look forward to ?
If you're into Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy, then you're a PS3 gamer. If you're into Halo and Gears of War, you're an Xbox 360 gamer.
If you like games from both platforms, there is little or no chance for a PS3/Xbox 360 exclusive title to be released for another platform. Or you could just buy both but that brings us again to No.1.

Well, this is arguable on many basis. Some say the Xbox 360 is as fragile as an old lady walking down an icy slope. Some say, if you do fall down, just get up. Meaning, the Xbox 360 is prone to 3RedLights - - hardware failure. This is due to the design flaw on Microsoft's part. If you run into it, chances are you need to return it and get it fixed or... another method which I absolutely hate to talk about.

Erratic performance is also prevalent in the PS3 for some reason (meaning sudden jump in frame-rates). Most games are said to run smoothly, at times even better than the Xbox 360. O ya...i think xbox360 is not suit for u, it got 3rod hidden inside, this is the dark achievement that u dun want to reach it....so go grab ur ps3, ps3 got MGS4 which promise that will release the end of this year but already delay to next year Q2, never mind just wait for it, PS3 still got many other good game to play, just go search urself again, so i think u already got ur answer, so please close this thread....so...??? In my opinion, PS3 outranks Xbox 360 in nearly every ways except for online communities and exclusives. PS3 has an inbuilt Bluray player, PSU, 4 USB slots, SD family support and WiFi. The PS3 maybe a little more expensive but at least they don't have overheating problems like the 360. They're games are priced almost the same so better go with BR than DLDVD.

I faced the same dillema earlier but I already decided on a ps3. why?

1. Free online multiplayer. Xbox 360 need to subscribe to gold paying account

2. The major titles are my all time favorites, final fantasy and mgs4 to be exact. GT5 too!

3. Sixaxis control. It's not as agile as nintendo Wii, but hey.

4. I didn't buy into the Halo 3 hype. Gears of War while cool, but now that I can play it on the pc didnt seem to be so hot now.

5. No RROD! The stability issue can't be that bad.


Any points to counter my reasons are welcomed. I'm no sony fanboy, if I have enough reason to not buy a ps3, I'll go for a 360.

Erm... Xbox 360 seems more available, games wise and support wise in Malaysia. Got "cheap" games also. Xbox Live, while I haven't used it much seems pretty fun as well. The latest release or the releases to come with the BenQ I think reduces the 3rod problem.

But I just see the PS3 as the winner in the long run. The BR disc format can hold much more data than the DVD as as such, in the future some games that the BR will be able to hold dunno whether the DVD can keep up.

The Ps3 for some reason also looks more stylish and solid but a lil more expensive.

Haha, i'm not promoting ps3, just my opinion, i have a 360 anyway.

btw, what dvds do the 360 use? issit the normal 4.7gb dvd+r?

PS3 still can't modify juat can play original games but safety compare with X-BOX 360 caz X-BOX 360 easy get 3 dead red light (easy get heat).Once u get 3 red light it will keep on come out(after repair,repair cost around RM150.00-RM280.00)

xbox360 are using dual layer DVD's. 8.5gb. that's why the developer still trust DVD as a main media for games in x360.

you can actually get a 60gb model for that price,if you know where to look

Use general purpose CPU, 3 core with 6 threads, similar with 6 SPEs in PS3 but way much easier to code on. So lazy programmers still able to do well on Xbox

Modability, can play ahem games.

Having read some reviews mostly said that X360 currently still rules, and because of it's superior GPU, it can have FSAA and HDR simultaneously. PS3 has potential, but it takes years to realize.
Sony is just repeating their PS2 lesson, the EE was used to be a piece of alien's hardware too.

Probably only for time being PS3 subscription is free because they want their sales to catch up. When they have reached their target, they might implement some charges.

yes, i'm thinking like that also. Everything now requires payment. If free, sure the service is not so good

well I certainly hope not.... A part of the draw to the ps3 is because of the free online multiplayer. Having free online multiplayer certainly is possible, the pc genre has proven that such a thing can exist. Sony can get their revenue from PSN sales, adverts and game licensing. I believe Nintendo Wii online multiplayer is free as well?

Why don't you demo on all three of the consoles? Whichever console you enjoy out of the demos, you buy. Simple.

for long run i go for ps3, xbox360 & wii only will last for another 2 year + tht it, can lipat. ps3 life is more longer expect 10 years & the graphics is so... awesome.

From previos console, life of a console usually only like 5-6 years only. Then they will introduce new gen system. If 10 years, sure become old technology

which is why this time I invested in a console in its early years, instead of what I did with the psone! last time bought psone when all the game busuk already. lol!

my recommendation would be a 360. Afraid of the 3rod problem? Buy elite version with improved MB version. The newer 360 won't have this problem any longer, because of a complete boardchange due to improved production technics and cost reduction (e.g. shrinked size of GPU etc. will produce less heat).

The graphics of the PS3 is not on that level of the 360. The GPU of the 360 reaches DX10 level (like another forum user already stated). The GPU of the PS3 is old. The whole PS3 was already old before hitting the market. SONY wasted a lot of time integrating copy protection in their blue ray technology.

The blue ray dvd might be already dad, because many hollywood studiod are not longer releasing blue ray dvds. Only HDDVDs... Who knows how it will end.

The advantage getting a free blue ray player is not a real advantage. And by the way for the 360 are a lot more games available.

It dont like Microsoft, I am a Linux user, but the 360 is the better choice. SONY made a lot of noise because of the many cores, but I cant see anything on the PS3 which knocks me down.

The 360 will survive a long long time its easy and cheap to bring XP/Vista games to this platform.

Blueray - Useless to me. I am not going to buy a any Blueray movie.
PSU - ?? Xbox360 don't have PSU ??
USB Slots - Xbox360 has one or two. Enough for me to plug in my iPod while playing action games.
Wifi - Truely agree, Xbox360 does not come with Wifi connection.
Overhearing - I left my Xbox360 for several days at time in a room to download demo, not a single problem.
Game Price - Agree with you.
BlueRay vs DL-DVD - To me, no point spending money on BlueRay if you have anything less than 37" LCD Panel.

if you really care about the graphic details and gameplay, look out for exclusives made for PS3 like FF13 and MGS4 etc, these are programmed to be optimized for PS3's uber complicated Cell BE structure.

for multiplatform games, 360 still remain a better choice, most games are just port from 360 to PS3 for the time being

Theres a lot of neutral (non-fanboy) articles out there that concludes the PS3s RSX GPU inability to cope with the 360s more advance Xenos, which pumps out better FSAA and HDR simultaneously. Blu-Ray movies arent a strong enough reason for me-us-or-you to buy it IMHO. Yeah its the cheapest blu-ray player rite now, but by the time blu-rays become standard (..hopefully) theyll be an army of clone players from china etc. The same was for DVD players. At time of the PS2 launch in Nov 2000, DVD players cost a bomb, and the PS2 was deemed the cheapest dvd movie player solution. but jus 1-2 years in, DVD players start to fall at dirt cheap prices. So for me, this feature isnt a strong-enough bargaining chip for the PS3.. IMHO. But yeah.. HD DVD is dead

So as a conclusion, for the TS and me, within the nxt 6-12mths we are better off with 360's large library of games to choose from. If you want to gamble on the PS3 future, be my guest, ill be going for the 360 first, THEN i will buy myself a PS3 when developers dooooo see and tap the real potential of this sleeping beast.

so i'll be off to buy me self a 360 today.. $$

if everyone in this world have the same mind set like you....then no game will come out for PS3 for the next 2 years and PS3 will be dead.

Large Install base = More reason to develop game.

so by buying PS3, you not only give it a chance to survive but you give the game dev a reason to develop more game on it. Multiplatform or not is the other side of story

Yeah!! PS3 is the way. I never really did like XBOX 360 although they have good games like HALO & Gears Of War. The reason why I did not purchase the 360 is because their hit title will soon be ported to the PC (Ahem... I am enjoying Gears Of War through the PC). Hardware reliability is another issue. Why buy a badly design console? If buyers still wants a 360, better to wait for the spec with chip revision.

Finally, PS3 will have some great titles coming up (DMC4, GT5, FF13, MGS4 etc). I've downloaded the movie trailer for a game called "White Knight" (Japanese is known as Shirokishi) and it looks awesome with stunning music.

i would invest in PS3 coz its reliability,the x360 has this temp issus causing 3rod,my frens 360 din last a year and have been repaired twice still the problem persist,360 may have kick ass hardware but the mainboard sucks it flexes when the GPU&CPU heat up causing permanent harware failure.microsoft isnt doing anything bout it,so think 2wice b4 buying a 360 need some serious cooling mods b4 u use it like crazy.

yeah,,,currently im enjoying my time with my ps3 and havent regret buying it..if you have a PC with good setup, might as well dun go for xbox360 as most of the games will be available/ported (GOW,Bioshock,Ass.Creed,OrangeBox) to pc anyway...that was what i thought when i was choosing btwn xbox360 & ps3
