Hi all. Just got my brand new shiny iMac yesterday. Find that the wired mighty mouse is rather sluggish at times. I've set the tracking speed to the fastest. The problem is the mouse tracking sometimes fast and slow, making me move my hand more than necessary just to move the cursor across the screen. Is this normal? Would my 1GB RAM caused such a sluggish mouse? This mouse is hurting my wrist already.

Nothing to do with your iMac bro, you need a good mousepad for the Mighty Mouse to work nicely. Had the same problem when I wasn't using any mousepad.

Am just wondering, would a nice flat grey surface do instead of a mousepad? 1 less thing to mess my already messed up desk's always good blush.gif

Problem solved. Mighty Mouse works great on a black dark surface. Was using an A4 paper that there rest of my cheapo mouse has no problem with.

@Timber,
That's good to hear smile.gif Hope ur enjoying your new "toy". I've gotten used to the trackpad so there's really no need for a Mighty Mouse these days though I still carry one in my Crumpler blush.gif It sure helps when doing Spreadsheets and I been told it's quite useful with CS3 programs except i'm no CS3 user blush.gif

If I am not mistaken, wired mighty mouse is only using normal optical mouse method. Optical mouse will not work well on reflective surface.

Meanwhile the wireless mighty mouse is using laser, therefore it will not affected by the surface.

most probably the surface where u place your mouse is reflective.

actually mouse pads that are too flat or even in colour will not work... the optical sensor works on detecting patterns movements... it'l scan the surface at high rates and make comparisons based on the patterns to judge movements...

Yup I have a A4Tech Glaser. Works well on wood and plastic
surfaces without mousepad.

I also have an old RM 90 logitech wireless. It's my main mouse
and works well on wood.

The original "capsule" apple mouse was a nice design but
quite fussy and the button died hence the logitech :-(

i do hate the scroll on the mighty mouse... it gets screwed up once in a while... and have to make sure my hand is absolutely dirt free when using the mouse... and i just give up on the right click on the mighty mouse.. it is a bit unpredictable... i rather just stick to the old Ctrl + click for right clicks...
