I got completely bored one day and I ended up recording myself playing my own rendition of "The Godfather" theme song. You know, the one Slash plays at Use Your Illusion Concerts, from that famous movie?

Here's a rundown of the setup I used.

1x Crappy old laptop
1x Zoom b2.1u multieffects
1x B.C. Rich Bronze Series Warlock Bass, 4 stringer, 24-fret.
1x Pedal-to-Computer Patch Cable
1x Ibanez Instrument Jack
1x Headphone Jack Converter
1x Brandless pair of headphones.

::Note::
No amplifier was used in this process.

====================================

All I did was setup my ghetto rig (as seen above), start recording, and start playing.

This is the result.

Tell me what you think.

P.S. ==> I know my form was a little sloppy, but still comments please?
Also, please remember this was played on a Bass in custom tuning, hence the lack of high notes, artificial harmonics, bends, thrills, vibrato, and all the other good stuff that you usually hear on a guitar solo.

Thanks!

P.P.S. ==> Matthias Syd Steiner is my stage name. Don't ask any more.

Lol you know whats your first mistake?
Its uploading a 25mb file into rapidshyt!!! hahaha!! Luckily i have premium account, so i could still download it xD

ok here goes, (keep in mind ive never heard slashs version before, i only know the original song)
lack of high notes wasn't a problem, but the bends are. Maybe that can be excused since it was done on bass. Some parts were kept original and you improvised a little here and there which is good, but it felt like you're not doing enough. Something like, you try to improvise, but it didn't really come out right. Thats what i felt.
Also, having done on bass, i should expect a bass rendition of the song rather than a "guitar-like" version. That being said, there wasn't any bass effect or bass style to it at all. It sounded very... guitar. Personally i don't like that. Bass should sound like bass.
Overall, i think youve done a fairly good job considering it was done on random. But i think it can be improved alot more than this.

But thats just my opinion. Keep Trying!! xD

Oops i almost commented it for a guitar >.>

sorry guys, but that was the format m recorder saved it in. forgot to check lol.
I'll remember to fix that if I upload anything else xD

@Ryuuga ==> I purposely played every single note above the 12th fret to create that higher "guitar-like" sound. I think you can hear a few notes buzz because my frets are getting worn down from torture lol.
