When I took out the batteries, I found a SIM Card slot behind. I looked up the net apparently it's more US-Centric, supports EVDO and HSDPA from US carriers like Sprint, Verizon & AT&T.
So that's good, at least there's HSDPA.
Here's what I find strange, none of you XPS M1330 Owners from Malaysia are talking about the SIM Card slot behind?
XPS M1330 Malaysia Owners! Does yours come with a SIM Card slot too? Does it work? Can I use Celcom Broadband with it?

Just for anyone that's interested I have recently been trying to get WWAN capabilities into my Dell XPS M1330 (successor to the M1210) with varied results.
The laptop has a SIM card reader behind the battery pack connected to the WWAN Mini PC Card socket under the laptop. I have been trying to get this working with 3 HSDPA and Telstra Next G.
I first ordered a Dell 5500 DF062 which installed no problems however it would only work on GPRS not HSDPA on 3 and Telstra. The card's specs say 850MHz HSDPA so I would presume this should work with Telstra's Next G network. Unfortunately I could never get it to log onto anything but their GPRS (2.5G) network.
Three only 'roamed' onto Telstra's GPRS network, as was expected as the card didn't do HSDPA 2100MHz, only 1900MHz as it was US-based.
Ok so next step I ordered a Sierra Wireless MC8775 which seemed to be perfect for this... not locked to any particular carrier, and tri-band HSDPA, meaning it should work on all carriers.
Well, it installed, locked onto Telstra's Next G network in HSDPA, but within about 5 seconds, the Watcher software turned the radio off. I can turn it back on via the menu however it will repeatedly switch back off and not be on long enough to establish a connection.
I tried this on two similar Dell M1330's. I also noted other people with this issue around the place. (not in this laptop)
I have emailed Sierra Wireless support however as they deal mainly with OEM's for this product I doubt I will get very far.
Back to my express card modem for now I suppose :|

Added on November 25, 2007, 7:06 amTherefore, by replacing the WWAN Mini PCI Card inside the XPS laptop with other mini-pci cards like Sierra Wireless MC8775, you can actually use Celcom Broadband / Maxis Broadband with it??
Wouldn't that be cool???
@Comfortsurf - got minipci cards?
