Do not ask the interviewer the salary range. You should be aware of this when they called you for the interview. This shows that you did not do any research regarding the job that you have applied. If you really have no idea, depends on how good you sell yourself. It is pretty much doing a business during interview. If you are good, you can manage to "sell" yourself at a very high price.
