Job Title : Project and Construction Engineer Age: will be 28 this year Job Desciption : Coordination between engineering and construction Years spent in company : 1.5 years Company : MNC Industry : Oil and Gas Tenure : permanent Employment Level : Executive Experience before joining : 3 yrs salary : RM18,000 per month basic allowance : RM4,500 fixed allowance and OT rate is RM75 per hour
I would suggest young engineers out there to try their best to get into oil and gas company. Like me, you can start from small companies. As long as you are in the industry, you will be able to get the job in bigger companies when you have the experience
As for female, if you dont like engineering, go for medical companies selling medical equipments or even pharmaceutical drugs aka medicine. Good prospects for female
I am not trying to show off or anything but trying to advise the young generation on how to choose their career path.
need any advise, please let me know
Thanks LWL

just be patient to stay at the company that you are in..although i do agree it could be easier to find a job with high salary but hard to find a company that you feel comfortable working in...if you can get both situation, it will be perfect...
For those young ones, you shud work really hard at what you are doing..work harder than the senior ones so that you gain more experience in a short time..dun be afraid to receive new job scope or even clean up people's mess...always take it as a learning experience..so that you know what to do to prevent those mess in future
you will be able to go higher in a faster rate if you work harder than the rest...then move to another company for better offer

QUOTE(ericong77 @ Oct 2 2008, 10:06 PM) Preferable Degree in Geophysics, Chemistry Petroleum. i would say that u can join O & G if u have engineering degree in an oil and gas project whether for offshore or onshore or even FPSO we do need civil, mech, instrument and electrical engr. i would say that it is best to have a chemical engr to be a process engr where the money is the most geophysics and chemistry petroleum is more into the drilling, r&d side

and i would say that experience refers to how much you have learned in during your working years in companies and NOT the number of years of experience.it is the quality of experience and NOT the quantity of experience. some people might have 10 years experience but what they know is lesser than the years of working experience so make sure you learn as much as you can when you are young. normally you learn more in small companies cause you will need to do more work.
I was in a smaller O & G company before and you need to do everything from planning till cost control for project engineering but in bigger company, they have separate depts to do them
