your salary would be in the lower one-third of the overall range (which is from RM2k-3.5k) for mechanical. But perfectly within reason.
My advice is you are working in quite an interesting job for mechanical, try to enjoy it, perform well and get reward. (Please follow the order, don't reverse it!).

20% annual increment?
normal practice?

i'll let u know when i get it end of this year..
lol
if i do get....

but i was surprised to know that it's that high....

if everyone gets 20% annual increment, then a normal person with a degree retiring today should earn about RM80000 per month.

Based on entry level salary RM500 (my dad's first salary as accountant).

He ended up making a top salary of RM10k about 10 years ago when the economy was good. Just prior to retirement last year he was making RM5000 (changed job from accounting to IT).

The managing director of my MNC in M'sia local site is making RM50000/month, he is 51 and had an entry salary of RM800. This is the highest performer in a company for his ENTIRE CAREER.Considering my company had from 100 at start to 2000 ppl today, he is the best 1% or 0.05% of the population.

Based on my entry salary of RM2.7k, I would be making Rm534000 / month just before I retire, in 2034 if I have 20% increment / annum. Fingers crossed I know what to tell my boss this end year's performance review lol.

Stop the foolish comments la. 20% increment is sustainable only for the first few years of your career if you are the 95% of the population.
