sigh...the local companies as expected, pay peanuts. The MNCs, throughout their years here (discounting in the recent global economic crises), treat the employees like 'cheap labour' compared to their own domestic staff. Bloody MNCs...

Compared to other industries, IT is defintely grossly underpaid sector as can be seen in this thread.

I think it's due to competitions of 'cheap labour' from China and India as well as the Phillippines.

before that, you have to consider his qualifications (spm/diploma/degree?).

But for utoi80, your pay really doesn't commensurate with your experiences. Given such circumstances, I'd have jumped long time ago. smile.gif

In professional field like auditing, doctorial, lawyer etc, does a Master or PhD or high certification help for increment of salary?

To me, many high certified professions have no working experiences (especially new graduates),  and yet because of certification, they are entitled to a high salary.  I ever encountered a case like a high qualified body with no working experience, presents proudly to others and order senior who is not qualified to do things for them, where the assignments are delegated to the pride body.

Whereas, many people they not even have very high certification, however, they are capable, diligent and have enough working experiences.  Somemore, they assist their employers to gain high returns.  Nevertheless, they obtain lesser salary as compare to staffs with high qualification.

No matter how hard they work for the employers, they have lesser increment as compare to qualified staff.

Would it be fair?  cry.gif

Thank you.

I had this experience before. I would like to share a situation that i've done myself. its works, but u must really confident on what u capable of. chances, hurm.. 50-50 i would say..

its my 2nd day on a new company, and another company call for an interview. so i didnt really thinking of moving again, but i just go and try my luck.

talk as i am.tell what i have done and i just be myself.
Interviewer: What ur expecting salary?

Me: Rm4000 (i saw in the advertisement before, the job offer 1800. Hehe)

Interviewer: we offering only 1800, as you are fresh grad in the industry. why u expect 4000?

Me: I have the knowledge, capabilities that worth 4000 and i strongly believe i could make more than that for this company.

(bla bla bla.. some of the chit chat.. then i go home.)
3 weeks later, they call if i would take the job if they offer 3100. but then i said if 4000 then i take it. few of nice talk again, hang up.

a week after that, they call again and offer for 3800. but too bad, i'm already move to another company who offer better.

Moral of the story, i think any interview we go, the important is CONFIDENT and BE YOURSELF.
others will come to you, if its yours. smile.gif

While the next version is coming, our salaries remain stagnant and not in line with the inflations we are having.
It's like:
