To me reasonable for you is RM2k-2.5k max....if you want to further your career, you have to improve your personal skill & education. Btw, the figure i mentioned is a over estimate for you. Your age is young & low education level.

Anybody with sales line - care to share the range for comparison purposes?

For normal jobs - its basically more towards fixed pay.

How about sales pay? Inclusive of commision & allowance.

Just to share :

Job Title : Telesales
Years spent in company : 1 yr
Company / Industry : Banking Line
Tenure : Probation for 3 - 6 months, permanent offered
Employment Level : junior Exe
Experience before joining : Few months exp in few companies.
Salary : RM 2300 (Basic) + RM 100 - RM 200 (Incentive)
(But no commison)
Bonus : Up to 6 months bonus - performace base (Yearly bonus)
Working days : 5 days/week
Benefits : Usual benefits.
*
basically for sales inclusive commision has no a estimate figure you earn...you can earn 5k,10k,20k or more...the figure is infinity...not like basic pay only fix monthly.....before hop into sales currently, i was being a fix pay engineer pay...as i survey mostly sales basic is range from 2k-3k....average sales ppl will get only <2.6k....hardly reach 3k unless you are experience....recently i got an sales offering me Rm3.6k basic, 1% commision scheme + 200 allowance + petrol as per mileage claim....

true that in sales can be unlimited but just to know the range of how much ppl in the sales line are earning...

like toyota salesman - basic can be as low as 600 but their commision wise can earn them more than 4k in a month... for junior level...

so just want to know whr the general / market average is....
*
as i said is very subjective figure to mentioned how much average a sales line ppl earning. It also depends your own satisfaction & aggresive enough to earn more. To figure line is no limitation. Some sales ppl satisfy with average commision 1-2k, but some wil set 3-5k, & also some will set 10k above....so its up to you to determine you desire salary figure in sales line.

law grads nowadays earn from 2.5k - 3k as starting pay. bigger firms tend to pay closer to 3k. my firm pays 4.6k as starting pay but competition is extremely stiff. PM me if you want more info. what is your area of specialisation?

Well, my friend works with an MNC, oil & gas..he's fresh grad, with no working experience and he just recently joined as an engineer. His pay is RM3k with no allowances (except claims la)..I do feel he's kinda underpaid for MNC oil&gas company, but as 'Selrahc' said its normal nowadays. IMO, as long as u can cope with your expenses and hv fun with ur work..just hang in there until better days.  thumbup.gif

debbieyss!!

First, i dont see you are underpaid base on your working experience. A work that you stay less than a years employer would not consider as your career profile mostly. So in future at least stay your job for at least 2 years. You can claim any facts that you learned, but that is the GAME out career world.

surveyor!!
Also i don't feel your friend is underpaid also. WIth a fresh grad pay of Rm3k that is simply owesome. Does it because is O&G it has to be higher or it suppose to measure in term of individual competent & experience? Let me ask, what your friend will able to contribute to the organisation or the team with its minimal experience as a gresh grad? DO you aspect a RM5k for a fresh grad is consider reasonable?

In short, everything is back to basic. Academic & experience has to combine as integration to maximise your career value & prospect. Be well grounded before you demand. Everyone wants to climb up the corporate or suceess in earning more, and times will bring you there once you are well grounded which the experience here that i mentioned. From the 1-5 year, is your learning path which is not your demand power, as here its depend how initiative and eager of you to success in your career.

I agree too, having a Master Degree doesnt mean that you will have a good kick start, some might even just ended up the same salary as those 2-3 yr experience Degree Grad. But when come to real working life, people will see your experience more than your paper, that's the reality of life.

Off topic: If I could get a Master, I would aim for MBA instead of post grad on my current field. The stepping stone is totally different, brighter and wider. Suitable for those who has the vision to go for top management, leading organization and earning big bucks. Its gona be a long term investment though.
*
As this is relation to integration of academic & working experience. People & organisation in this lattice world is continuous improving their skills & competency. Both has to weight simultaneously or neither of them which is more important. Besides, MBA could equiped you with a "Well Grounded" skills not just limited to an management organisation, but instead it could helpful to be businessman.

QUOTE(debbieyss @ Jan 3 2009, 12:53 PM)
but MBA is very common, it's anywhere everywhere.

On the contrary if you choose other post grad programs it's rather less competitive.
*
Is Degree in E&E, Mechanical, Computing, BA, Accounting, Finance & etc is very common, anywhere, everywhere?so why bother of the competitiveness?

Technician dont get pay 2.3k....Job wise we do everything from system modifications and field site calibrations.....Underpaid? Well, not that lucky enough to find company that can offer higher...
*
Maybe you should rephrase more precisely that technician rarely get "basic" pay of RM2.3k but can earning more than this RM2.3k(due to OT).

I am currently doing programming in .net platform with sharepoint, infopath.
Since my company are short of staff, i am developing most of the modules and gathered quite some skill in it.

My pay currently is 2.7k, however with my workload and responsibility, i think i deserve better pay.

Do you think so? by the way, i only started to work for 1 year only.
I am looking for pay around 3.8k if possible. Is it reasonable?
*
Normally we always claim ourself worth more that what we gain. But how true is it, the answer is definite not from yourself. Does anyone had claim themselves overpaid?
I can share my opinion with you. I have the same thinking with you. I normally sent out resume for interview after attached in an employer for about 2 years. From this, you will know roughly your market value. This is how i anticipate whether im underpaid or overpaid.

@IDK
At least to me yes. What serves if employer recruit u as a senior manager but yet paying you little tiny of a workers pay & yet not doing a senior manager job responsibilities. A customer of mine giving me name card tittle of General Manager, but indeed he is a "sales executive" pay. In short, he has 2 name card to distribute.

tehtarikais
You dont think its fancy of your title..then i tell you are holding a senior manager title which is on par as a top management team.
