Guys...need some advice on playing guitar - the lefthanders' way that is.

The most probable reason that stops me from playing that piss of sheet is because most guitars are designed for right-handers. I hv a hard time strumming/clucking with my right hand - it just feels unnatural and underpower. No umpphf. No syiok.

As such, i give up guitar lessons easily and hence, my frens who once tried to help me think im nt interested in music which is nt true!


So, I have questions for all the music maestros (esp. lefties) here:

1) Is there any shop in Malaysia that sells left-hander guitars?
2) Are there classes that conduct left-handed guitar lessons?
3) Do u think it's worth buying a lefty guitar?
4) Am i better off playing sitar?

I hope one day I can end up in the likes of lefties Sir Paul McCartney (without b****es) and Kurt Cobain (without the shotgun).

i think it doesn't matter if you're left handed. most left handed people play right handed guitar anyways for multiple reasons.
for one, it is much easier to get right handed guitars.

when you are learning, you're not familiar with either hand. so i advise you to try your best to pick with your right hand because once you get too comfortable with picking left handed and you have already fixed a mindset, it is very, VERY hard to change.

so while you're stillnew to playing guitar, try your best to play right handed for the sake of the future

however, playing left handed isnt bad at all. as for shops selling lefty guitars... quite a few of them sell, like chambers music and the guitar store.

i don't know about lefty classes so i can't comment on that.
buying a left handed guitar would be convenient for you if you play left handed but its very hard to sell it off next time. you can do what hendrix did, flip a right handed guitar over

i hv a fren who is a lefty.. and he's currently using jackson guitar as his main axe... previously, he hv an old samick which also a lefty guitar... and he's really good in playing guitar... he play stuff like dream theater, any metal stuff etc... so i dun see any prob for u to learn how to play guitar... he can even play with the string up side down ( u know, string #1 at the top )... i guess it just on u... just learn n hv fun... u will get it

1. yes...almost all the big shop (bentley, guitar collection etc) seling left hand guitar.

Lol, I think you'll only have to buy a left handed guitar. Other than that there shouldn't be a difference in teaching left handed guitarists and right handed guitarists. If you really feel unnatural playing right handed, you should get a left handed guitar, though, i always thought its only in the mind >.< No offense, my bro's left handed too.

Though i wouldn't know where to find left handed guitars in msia... you might have to import them perhaps?

FYI, yes...... You should pick up guitar. Left Handed guitars, although rare, is much easier to find nowadays. Don't worry man....... Lot's of lefties are amazing...... look At Iommi and Hendrix!
