i think the design is kinda evergreen...... it looks better next to satria thumbup.gif

my sister just got her bestari delivered. i already give it a go.
the 1.4 powerplant feels a little underpower but i love the tiptronic gear. car more suitable for lady.
riding quality is what we usually expect on continental cars.
will let you guys updated once the car engine loosened and i got a chance to fully rev it. laugh.gif

75 PS is equivalent to a savvy's engine.....thats really underpowered for a car that size......btw VTEC is 110 ps...the DSi version is 88.
if u want a car for point A to B, it should be alright, but i'd place my money on a suzuki swift, at least i get more than 100PS.
go for a test drive and see how the car delivers....75PS may be a poor figure but sometimes with a good gearbox and proper ratios, it can still get it moving.

you've got the point. well said there rclxms.gif
me and my sister actually test drove both.
swift seems to be more agile and powerful but my sister still prefer the bestari.
anyway, once the warranty period over, maybe can change the engine to the bigger one tongue.gif

You drive what kind of Wira? 2.0 Diesel?

I agree though, when you're so used to underpowered cars, 75 PS is quite good. My friend's Saga LMST felt very powerful, because before that I only drove a Kelisa Auto.

waa..got meh Wira 60ps? I thot lowest should be around 84-85ps(1.3 Wira). Oh nway, sometimes people rate a car based on their experienced on a previous car that is better in terms of power and technology. So, they easily rate that car is underpower or not good. But based on figures given by the spec, 74ps from 1.4 engine a bit low(afaik), myvi 1.3 is around 85-87ps. sweat.gif So, in this case, i dont think peugeot is dumb enough to produce underpowered car..the figure might be low, but maybe got hidden power or performance somewhere..huhuhu..the design quite nice..maybe the manual version should be nice to drive.

Maybe the FC is good..
Like the City, juz enough power to get the car frm point A to B..and save a lot on fuel!

i think there was a promotion going on... seems to be around RM 66,800 with 5 yrs warranty and 3 yrs free maintenance.

i've tested the car before and it's really easy to drive. down side, i'd say it's a little underpowered, but ppl claim that it compensates for that with having a little more torque.

all in all, value for money but the assembly does suffer a bit cause some creaks are noticed when you open and close the door. the best thing that this car has going for it right now would be the warranty and cheap maintenance.

If u want power, get a Jazz VTEC and Mugenize it. The 206 is a top performer for comfort and that EURO-style feel-good type of driving. This is mostly due to the comfortable ride, the simple yet special interior with Jaeger instruments, service interval warnings, Porsche Tiptronic gearbox, etc. But for power, it sure isn't one for all that F&F wannabe stuff. The 50L tank is large enough to not have to stop and fill up too frequently. At first the gearbox seems rough but after a week it matches your every need like it has hooked up to your brain! A quick 5-10 minute drive won't tell you how nice it is. Nasim has just gotten the Peugeot franchise (no longer Cycle & Carriage) so you can expect cheaper original parts, easier availability, etc.

my sister drive one.... the 1.4cc with tiptronic, minus the novus treatment. cost her almost 70k last year.
been on the driver's seat a couple of times. not suitable for a fast driver. no urge in power. the tiptronic gear kinda like messy... better to leave the auto get the job done.
on the positive side, the ride comfort is good.
TS, i f you really interested, test drive the 1.6cc. the naza salesman i get to know during their roadshow in amcorp mall gimme' a ride during the launch. quite lively.

I seldom speed , so the underpowered issue is not for me, I've read about how good this car is , all i seek if is the comfort when driving. and of course the price.

RM70k , my dad wouldn't get one for me at all cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

Power isn't everything when you buy a car. Growing up, our family car had 2 doors, no aircon, no power steering, no power windows, 1200cc pushrod OHV, no SOHC, no DOHC, no EFI ... and no cup holders. It was second hand from the 70s, as many families with parents holding govt. jobs could afford to buy. Maintenance, oil changes, brakes, etc. were all DIY'ed at home. At RM68,888 OTR, considering all the specs it's one of the cheapest European cars in Malaysia and worth taking a look at. Only downside is the shape has been overshadowed recently by newer, also somewhat emotional designs, like the Swift, etc. but the 206 with its build quality and ride comfort can still hold its ground compared to many others.

I'm quite sure it's quite a bit less than the list price. When I bought it there was a ~5.5k discount altogether which brought the price down to around RM62k.

Don't expect very good fuel consumption though, it's only around the same as my Satria 1.3 manual and worse than my Toyota Wish.

i think sporty in the sense that it's based on the 206 wrc.. but fast wise... it's not biggrin.gif

if u are not looking for something powerful, this is the car for u. it's truely the cheapest continental car u can get and easiest to maintain. anyone would tell u that maintaining a continental car is a pain when it comes to cost... but this car, it's cheaper than maintaining a proton

Driving it for a month and a half,i am a very satisfied owner.
Riding is very comfortable (i drive to the international airport everyday)
It maybe a slight underpowered car but i can live with it.i am not ur 2F2F dude.

EXTERIOR :

Evergreen style and look.People can say its dated, but hey it still a head-turner.
Do the 206 justice.Restore it to Peugeot. In fact IT IS a Peugeot..Turn it back to a Lion.
The difference between 206 Pug and 206 Bestari : NAZA BADGE and some local parts (to get CKD status)

INTERIOR :

Love the tiptronic transmission look (afterall its by Porsche)
Interior is classy with the Jaeger meter, service interval and gear oil level indicator.
The information LED which displays outside temperature (although i think it is not quite accurate),
informing of which doors opened/closed.
Interior build quality is OK,but i think they couldve done better job assembling the rear passenger doors.
It doest feel too good. The rest are good IMHO

FC + Maintenance

As mentioned earlier,FC isnt very cheap or very expensive.Just Average
I get about 13.5 km/litre everytime i fill in 26.041 liters
(which is RM50,full tanks is 50litre)
Maintenancewise, the common parts arent really expensive.and mind you the service interval is 20,000km
(You will do the 1st service after a local/Jap [exception to some models,of cuz] cars have done for the 4th time e.g 5000km interval)

Overall a GOOD car.not perfect neither bad.
You can test drive and compare. Then u can decide.
I'm just sharing my satisfaction :-D

Oh and lookout for promotions, maybe when NAZA relaunches Peugeot this March (after taking over from C&C)
I got myself a hefty RM6000 off the price during a promo last DEC. thumbup.gif

Cheers.

I've had the car for more than a year so I'll concur with the pros people have listed previously. The wiper management system for example is pretty damn cool. Stop or slow down to below 10km/h and the wipers automatically slow down one notch as well. If you have the wipers on and engage the reverse gear, the rear wiper automatically turns on to make sure you have a clear view of the rear.

There are a few things I don't like. The seat cushions feel pretty cheap, these were probably CKDed at the lowest cost possible. Sound proofing can definitely be better, any Dynamat pros out there willing to work with me? There are also a few panels loose under the steering column. They haven't exactly rattled but someone needs to tighten screws down there.
Otherwise I think it's a great car. I certainly hope the C&C to Naza transition won't cause problems but I'm not too hopeful.

Should be similar but expect slight differences in parts.XR is older model so pls check out the specs. Whether its manual or auto (older ones comes with 4HP14 compared to Bestari's newer AL4 gearbox ).
The engine should be 1.6 8v 90hp instead of Bestari's 1.4 8v.

cheers

dont know how to judge worthability of the car.but u can chk out the condition of the car and get to know inside out about the maintenance history.then u might decide if it is.

if u need to get more knowledge on 206,there's an active forum on Naza/Peugeot thread in the Autoworld.
chk them out!

I bought my Bestari 206 in July 2006. Since then I've encountered 2 problems:

1) suspension - in Nov 07 started noticing loud noise every time I drove my car over a bump in the road. Took it to the workshop in Anson Road in Penang, was told the suspension was 'loose'. Noise disappeared after the mechanic worked on it, but recurred again in Jan 08. Again took it to the workshop for fixing in Jan. The noise came back again recently - Apr 08. My car is currently at the workshop.

2) power steering - 3 days ago, the steering wheel felt very heavy, and i have to pull with all my might when turning the wheel. Took the car to the workshop today - when the mechanic opened up the cylinder which contains the power steering fluid - it looked like MUD - brown and sticky!! The mechanic mentioned a number of Bestari have the same problem, some even "bocor" and have to replace. There was one car which had been left at the workshop for ONE MONTH still waiting for the spare part to arrive!

Any other Bestari 206 owners who face the same problem? I am planning to write to Naza with copies to National Consumer Organizations to complain about the quality issues with the Bestari 206 and would welcome comments from other owners who've encountered similar problems.

KUALA LUMPUR: Naza Group founder and chairman Tan Sri S.M. Nasimuddin S.M. Amin died on Thursday in Los Angeles after losing his fight with lung cancer. He was 53.

Nasimuddin had been receiving treatment at a private hospital there.
"I have always loved cars. That is why I am in this business" - TAN SRI S.M. NASIMUDDIN

He leaves behind wife Puan Sri Zaleha Ismail, five children and a grandson.

Zaleha and his children were by his side when he died at 9am, local time.

Malaysian consul in Los Angeles Ahmad Asmawi told Bernama that Nasimuddin had been undergoing treatment at the hospital since January.

He said the Malaysian Islamic Society of North America was preparing the body to be flown back to Malaysia today.

The Naza Group is involved in various businesses including motor trading, motorcycles, manufacturing, transport services, engineering, plantation, water craft, property, hotel operations and insurance.

The group is the franchise holder for Ferrari, South Korea's Kia, Peugeot, Brabus, Hamann and Ducati motorbikes in Malaysia.

It also holds the import permits for Mercedes-Benz and Mazda vehicles.

Nasimuddin has been quoted as saying: I have always loved cars. That is why I am in this business.

In a brief meeting with the press at Menara Naza yesterday, Datuk S.M. Shalahuddin S.M. Amin said his late brother found his passion in his business, which nurtured the growth of his business venture.

As at press time, his family was still making funeral arrangements, which will be announced today.

I have a small issue with my Power Steering Fluid too.
It was somehow "bocor" or what, the fluid gets below the minimum level.
Sent the car to a workshop and they topup the fluid free-of-charge for me, and tighten some screws below the container, and it's ok now.

Anyway, it scares me. So now I check the fluid level like....once a week.

bought from c & c last time.
can't change the logo on steering though.... besides, thats the only part that will set you free from the traffic / police hassle.
check with members at www.peugeotclubmalaysia.com for more information on the badges availability.

btw, the bestari 206 is value for money. just wonder if the tranny can handle the 2.0gti engine. hmm.gif
the tiptronic is quite nice to play with!

My advice is get your power steering shaft thoroughly checked. The service center flushed the entire shaft and found a major leak. If your car is still under guarantee, get Naza to replace the entire shaft, it costs more than RM 11,000!!

i'm not sure if it's a good price. i found a pug 206 1.4 XR year 2000 priced at RM27k. it's tempting. feels like buying.

any comment? btw, may i know whether izit a CKD or CBU for this year 2000 car?

i read somewhere that says if theres a serial number engraved on the boot, means its installed in France and brought in. Well that applies for naza 206. about Peugeot im not aware of.

Sigh, im having a hard time steering the wheels.. could it be the steering fluid become muddy? OMG man. didnt realise that, thought it was heavy by default due to better grip.

Anyone having problems with the gear shift?
My gear always stuck at 2 and only shifts to 3 when the rpm is 3.. which is when u hear the engine sound so loud, at the same time petrol consume more. Went to check and they diagnose that no problem.
And also gear shift is having slow feedback. is like when u shift to Reverse gear.. after 3 seconds approx only the car will move.. Almost banged a car while parking today, cause i was entering a parking lot, when i shift to R gear the car is still doing the D gear movement.. any one having same problem?

leroy.

leroy, my unit is also having the same heavy steering wheel. i thought it is by default like that. but i like the heavy steering wheel during spirited driving. any other 206b user can comment? i am driving 2007 manual transmission 206b anyway.

the waja is a much bigger car though with a 1.6 litre engine and it easily overtook me when i was doing 160kph in the 206 with 1.4 auto. the plus side is, the 206 was rock steady even at 170kph as the chassis was built to handle the performanc of a 2.0 litre engine (206gti).

a car can go fast or not.. depends who is the driver.
Bestari aka peugeot 206 is a gud car if u know how to drive it.
if u are fetching 4 person in your car, sure underpower, drive alone, cut here cut there also no problem.
i drove dis car since last year..no problem at all.. rev like hell..i nvr use auto transmission unless the traffic is very bad, using the tiptronic is gud to rev.
well for me.. thinking of modifying it.. but no money T.T

No worry many user already using RON95 on it. you can check autoworld.

Even though Ron97 at rm2 is still consider cheap.

By the way for my car now i'm using V-power smile.gif and feel good on it. Although it cost a little bit more but im satisfy with it performance and feel proud when people see you pumping using red pistol when at shell tongue.gif

Do remember the so called new one is actually 2007 stock!
It has been squatting in Gurun for at least 1.5 years, rubber wiper may be melted and tyres are old tyres.
Do ensure you check the quality 1st before you accept the car.
Read the fine print not all parts have warranty or may have shorter warranty.
Best you negotiate for rear reverse sensor as well, when buying the car cos outside fix will void the car warranty sweat.gif
