try this method* for demos which are no longer available

go to US Store, start a download on say DBZ demo, choose background d/loading.

exit store, pause the download.

go to proxy program, redirect the original DBZ URL to another demo in your pc (for example GT5P-JPN-demo.pkg)

continue the download and then install manually
*i will try this tonight and post my results
*
Strange.. Somehow this method works for me. In PSN store I got error 80023300 but not in XMB hmm.gif

Downloading never-been-downloaded/activated random JPN demo now. 7 mins ETA

Added on May 16, 2008, 5:50 pmIt works using the bg-downloading method.

I even disconnected my router's internet connection to make sure there is no stealth communication between xmb and the internet at that time tongue.gif

I think it should be added to the FAQs that in any case of freeze/lockups, eject any disc in the drive first before attempting to restart the system. This will lower the risk of the BD drive problem [citation needed].

I just got my PS3. I cant seem to update my firmware to 2.35. Is their network down? I have tried downloading from PS3 and PC. Both failed. Does anyone has the file to share?

Only 1 file is used and mirrored to all Sony's servers.

That is the default text anyway since PSP days. And yet all PSP updates are similar from its 1st update until now. And they use similar system for PS3. 1 file across the region.

md5 checksum

read more on this and you'll know that they are exactly similar

Guys, I just got a PS3. Would like 2 know anyone take on PS3 to LCD TV options.

PS3 via HDMI to Samsung 32LNA450C.

a) Force 720P signal
b) Optimal 1080P signal input but downscale to screen resolution.

Currently am using option b, are there any disadvantages to this ? Thank you
*
It all depends on the quality/capability of the scaler in your TV vs the PS3 scaler. You have to judge it yourself whether a is better than b or vice versa

"The best part is all the vob files regardless the size can be transferred to PS3 HDD via network"

thanks and sorry again if it's double post...

You can use any fileserver/transcoder (WMP10, redkawa fileserver, tversity, etc). Then access them using Media Server function (enable the option on Systems XMB - the most below). But nowadays I only use HFS (or other http server - xampp apache iis etc) and use PS3 internet browser to "pull" the file from your computer/server.

QUOTE(Sey @ Jun 14 2008, 08:29 PM)
hi everyone , i just bought a PS3  rclxms.gif along with GTAIV .

When i checked my GTAIV version it was PAL and at the back cover it said it only supports HD720P , 1080i and 1080p resolutions .

Currently i am using those Fat Old TV which doesn't support any of these resolutions with fancy numbers (460i , 720p etc) . Thus my ps3 won't let me start the game as i can only set mine to normal NTSC.

Now my question is ,

Do ps3 games from other regions have other resolution restrictions too?

I don't quite understand some of it but basically it means that unless i upgrade my fat TV into a HD Tv then some PAL games won't work for me right?

Essentially i should stick with US or asian version games?
*
Yes. You should only buy NTSC games for the time being (US/Asia/JP).

Hi everyone,

I got a question:-

Because I have a US account for PSN... I use Entropay to purchase my songs from Singstar and it was good. Now here's my other dilemma:-

I recently purchased Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock and then I realize mine was an Australia version. The problem is, only song track packs from Australia Playstation Store can be used for add-ons as I try to download the song packs from the US Playstation Store and it doesn't work.

Now, I can't down load song packs and I have even use Entropay for it and it doesn't work. It works only for the US account.

Any help on this?

Any SingStar PS3 disc can use DLC from any PSN region, but it all depends on the games. Entropay doesnt work to add funds to EU PSN wallet, and I think that's the same with AU PSN wallet.

My friend's PS3 has stalled after downloading the 2.36 fw (but before installing) and encountered a black screen. It couldt be started after he force-reset the PS3. After googling around, the solution is by switching off the PS3 using the power button on the rear of the unit, and unplugged it from the socket for 3-5mins. Luckily it worked.
However I think this is only for the pre-flashing stage. No harm trying though.

Entropay works for me to topup my US PSN wallet. I'm using UK Visa Debit to topup my Entropay card.
