hhmmm, well i only learn classical for like 8-9months. and yes,in the process of learning classical, u will automaticlly understand on how to play acoustic.

CLASSICAL= PLUCKING

ACCOUSTIC=STRUMING

but when u are learning classical, they teach u about chords too, so u will understnad how to play acoustic.

i dont think so thats possible la>...<

im not a pro but i can discribe to u. ( u have to wait for real sifu to explain fuly later)

cause acoustic guitar fretboard(the place u whole chord), is less wider than classical.

Classical has a wider fretboard than acoustic.

as far as i know, classical cannot put steel string.

acoustic put nylon string? maybe not la, cause acoustic is an acoustic. if it can use nylon string then its not a acoustic.

just my 2 cent. im not sure bout it la, u gotta wait for the real sifu to come explain.

lol you cant put classical strings on an acoustic guitar.. classical strings dont have that round ball thing at the bottom...

anyways, I've been taking classical lessons for 5 months so far, and its really better than acoustic - you learn more about the classical techniques and ALSO learn a lot bout acoustic too..

I really reckon you should go for classical, but you have to be patient to learn classical + you need to practice a lot wink.gif

Good luck mate.

ya, if u want romantic melodies or nice songs, go for classical, its just alot more better than acoustic (im not saying acoustic sucks, but if u want go for lessons, its more worth it to learn classical, cause during the process, u learn things almost like acoustic, and acoustic can be self taught)

so ya, classical is better
here are few video of classical playing( and classical doesnt actually mean play those Ah-Pek SOngs-_-)

hmmmmmmmmm.
i say he just wants your money tongue.gif

but uhh...classical requires lots of discipline.

if all you want to do is play modern songs, just go take the regular guitar classes they got.
if you learn classical, you could probably play other stuff...
but do you want to learn classical? tongue.gif

and yes, u can put classical guitar strings on acoustic, all depends how the guitar bridge is designed.
but no, it wont be easy to play properly cos the strings are much thicker...thats why classical guitar fretboard is much wider to accomodate the strings.
so yea, you'll need a new guitar also.

My advice, stick with classical guitar. I started with acoustic guitar, finished learning everything in three months. yes three months -___- after that my mentor influenced me to play classical xD and ive been stuck here ever since.

I think its better to have a good qualified mentor than learning by yourself and adapting all the bad/wrong habits.
From classical you will also learn techniques that can apply when playing acoustic. Learning classical guitar doesnt mean only playing classical songs, fingerstyle on classical sounds more mellow and sweet than acoustic imo. Therefore it is still possible to play pop songs on classical.
Bottom line:
Classical = technique wise ranges from beginner to advanced
Acoustic = Not much technique involved, simple and easy to impress gurls XD

So if you're just gonna play to impress, go for normal acoustic classes that can finish in three months. If you're really serious about learning something new, classical is the one for you.

Regarding your guitar, since its steel stringed, i assume its an acoustic.But if you're going to play classical instead, its better for you to get a decent classical (at LEAST RM500 if you're low on budget)
Changing strings wont help haha

If you want to take guitar for the long run, then yes.... classical would be the better choice.

But if you just want to test out the waters and see if guitars are your calling? Go for acoustic.

I think this is pretty much in unison of everyone else's opinion here.
