Hi guys, have anybody done a speedometer conversion from miles to kilometres? If yes, may I know which workshop offers the service and how much do they charge? Thanks.
*
I think u can convert it on the bike itself, isn't it?

Yes that is right. I just checked their new pekeliling. It looks like things getting easier than before, however we do not know about the tax later on whether it will be the same or increasing. Perhaps it would be a good idea to ask them for tax quotation before shipping.

Then my plan to bring a 10years old bike wont happen 😭

Hello bro Im first timer here but I read some of the previous page.

Do you know if the tax for sbk is high like cars?
Its harder to find discussion regarding superbikes here.
Btw I was thinking of getting Honda CBR600RR to MAS from AUS. Dont know if its worth it.
*
For tax you need to email Customs for tax calculation (estimation)
I've personally brought in 3 superbikes from USA, and all of them was taxed for less than rm10k each, depends on the age of the bike. All bikes i brought in was more than 5 years old.

My advice, get the highest capacity bike u can get.. better get the CBR1000RR, it's more worth it

Already did and they said they will further the email to Putrajaya?
never considered 1000 man seems too overkill for me but i might look at that one.
CBR600 and CBR1000 here in aus is around 6-8k aud, how does that sound to you from your previous experience buying superbikes from USA.
You reckon is that expensive compared to what you bought before?1aud = around rm3
*
Yeah customs putrajaya will do the calculation.. so for now can just wait..

I brought in 2004 R1 last time, bought for usd4.5k (that time 1usd=3.2myr)
Total up including taxes, shipment, insurance and all is still RM15k cheaper than what people sell 2nd hand here.. and for 1000cc it does have more demand than 600cc

What year the cbr1000rr? Need to survey local 2nd hand price and then u can compare to know whether is it worth it or not.. and sincd u cant sell it within 3 years time, u need to consider the depreciation value for 3 years too

Yeah the price would probably round up to be almost the same as yours(cheaper by a margin of rm10-15k)

the links for CBR
http://www.bikesales.com.au/bikes/?Year_Mi...D%29&Sort=Price

pretty much year 2007-2008 from 6k-8kaud.
It is so freaking tempting lol, but then again I heard you cant bring in more than 5 years then gg lo too expensive
*
Wow aussie really do ride their bike.. all high mileage... 100,000km even!

Yeahh now max 5 years only..dang.. limited choices..bike price is higher and for sure tax is higher too.. but mine last time no GST yet.. so might be diff calculation..
If u get the figure later do share ya..

hey

do you need AP to bring in motorbikes? what are the subsequent procedure of clearing customs etc? did you use a runner and how much did it cost?

How were taxes calculated assuming a RM10k bike from Taiwan? thanks!
*
Hi
Yes u do need AP to bring any vehicle back to Malaysia. I did not use runners and done all the process by myself as I like to handle things personally.

For tax calculation, u need to email Royal Customs Department for a quote..

oic. AP needed so where did you source one from and how much are they usually? same as car RM10k or...?
*
In my case it was Student AP - Personal AP- any Malaysians working/study abroad for at least a year are entitled top apply (for free) for 1 AP to bring back vehicle

got the quote for cbr600rr to be rm4k bro
civic is 15k
both 2007
*
ahh rm4k sounds about right.. in Malaysia 2007 cbr600 price is around rm42-48k... so if total cost of your bike+tax+shipping is less than rm40k (rm35k the best) , then it's worth it.. if not then i think not really worth it since u can't sell the bike within 3 years..
i would suggest go for cbr1000rr - easier to sell later after 3 years

i see, actually the motor can get around 5kaud, thats around rm18k, so total everything would roughly be around rm25k i think

that's a steal man thumbsup.gif
that is like paying for a brand new kawasaki Ninja 250R here

BUT

i read that Customs recently changed their rules to only allow vehicle of age less than 5 years to bring back to Malaysia?
