1. Keep a viewing cone of about 30degrees. More or less up to you, as long as you are comfortable. For me, I sit at about 1.3x screen width which works out to be a 40degree viewing cone.
good point about bringing up the viewing cone, I notice the discussion trend especially in AVS is that the wider is better, obviously that means, moving to 1080p at sitting nearer distances to the screen... i.e. using more elite equipment... Added on February 4, 2008, 1:52 pm

1.5x is a bit too far, feel like watching a big TV oni. I sit between 1.2 to 1.3 for that immersive cinema feeling. Have no problems with screen door. Thumbs up to the Epson TW700, actually no screen door from 0.8x. But if you are really sensitive to screen door then I recommend Panasonic projectors, even at 0.3x cannot see the pixel. But ultimately its ur choicelah....
yeah panny ones with smoothscreen have no SDE (screendooreffect) but at 720 (my AE900) if sit like 1x screen distance (diagonal)... you will start to notice the pixel structure instead of the main movie images...This post has been edited by ar188: Feb 4 2008, 01:52 PM
