QUOTE(ddww @ Feb 2 2008, 01:57 PM) i would say that with 2 hrs of music/radio and only 10mins of calls daily, my phone also can last for 2days+ under dual mode lor... pigcat, is it true that by turning off UMTS would save some power? Yes it's true, it literally allow me to use another 24 hours for light usage. But don't get me wrong, I do that simply because I live up on the hill and the the GSM signal is quite weak there, let alone UMTS. If I set to UMTS, constantly switching between UMTS and GSM + searching networks will drain the battery like hell. Ever wonder the signal symbol somethines antenna and sometimes 3G cause the phone is searching for the best network to work with, but if you find it's doing it very often better switch to either UMTS or GSM. I don't use 3G so GSM worked fine for me. FYI, missgeek had her phone lasted for 3 days average even with dual mode. This post has been edited by pigcat: Feb 2 2008, 02:34 PM |

Anyone of you found the matching pair of headphones for N95 8GB? I find that the Sony in earbud earphone (RM119 at SonyStyle KLCC) really match the sound, tight bass and just nice mid/high range. I wonder if there's any better one, I did try a RM399 earbud headphone but the sound is overkilling (too much bass that covered the rest) and will result ear fatigue very easily, much prefer the Sony headphone...

QUOTE(jep @ Feb 4 2008, 09:26 PM) Yeah man...one more thing u should add...when the battery is 3 bars left...it's actually 1 bar...and better find a charger within 30 minutes time before your battery suddenly drop to 1 bar and warns you... Quite a few user experienced this over the hardwarezone. However mine isn't affected. It'll go 3 bars, take some photos and play around, then after some while dropped to 2 bars, then still can take quite some photos or light calls, and then 1 bar, still can do something like listen music or call a bit before the first battery low beep. Definitely a correct indicator rather than sudden battery warning. |

QUOTE(vebra @ Feb 5 2008, 07:48 PM) Add me in to list also You have to manually type in the SSID when setting up a new access point. Then straight go to browser and start browsing, it'll ask you to connect to access point, you'll find it on the list provided (sometimes it's at the bottom of the list). If you still don't see it, retry again, should see it by 2nd time.By the way i would like to ask any 1 know how to connect WLan that didnt broadcast SSID? I was set the acess point but when i use the web to browse net,it will search the possible WLAN nearby and i cant even see the acess point i set just now. QUOTE(Ickythump @ Feb 5 2008, 09:37 PM) Basically it's full webpage view in correct ratio, but due to low resolution you cannot view the whole webpage hence you need to zoom out or set the webpage to fit the resolution. 50% view with big screen no problem at all... |

Just want to post something little off topic...
Today I just played with my uncle's iphone. Wow, absolutely in love with the touch screen features! Seriously, using iphone is really something can't be explained in words, better than using WM pda phones! Also the camera actually surprised me, it actually take really good pictures for what it is! Although good lighting is needed as it has no flash at all but it's doing a superb job for casual shooting! No video recording? No problem, that's just the matter of time when Apple going to put that in! But still, compared to N95 8GB, my phone has better wifi reception and of course we have dpad and keypads which makes game playing great compared to full touch screen. But still, multimedia entertainment still no match for iphone, the screen is, urgh...Simply amazing... Somehow I'm seriously considering iphone as my next phone (if so happened ...still going to use my N95 8GB as for now as iphone still has tons of stuffs need to improve anyway... |

QUOTE(MattJ @ Feb 7 2008, 09:51 PM) Pigcat, Truely agree with you! I really have to admit iphone is something "too special" for a mobile device, you really have to play one to agree!Trust me, if you get the iphone, you'll enter a different world for mobile. I did that, although I still have my N95 8gig and my Tytn II, both of which enjoys less of my time nowadays. WIndows and Symbian are good OS with their own specialities, but for GUI, nothing tops Iphone..... When I first got it, played with it the whole nite, just like a kid getting a new wonder toy he's been eyeing for years..... But as I read many users' feedback, there're still many drawbacks as for now, I'm still using quite some features in N95 8GB happily that iphone simply cannot do it, for instance MMS, bluetooth data transfer...Maybe, I'll just wait for the future... Hopefully Nokia will come out their S60 Touch devices (yes Nokia actually exhibited their upcoming S60 Touch, prove of video is available) that'll have whatever iphone can do and add tons more functions on top of that! Although I'm not going to put high hope for S60 Touch as Nokia haven't been doing great with quality (say, LCD screen colour richness and sharpness compared to iphone/ipod) although spec wise it's truely great. Who knows maybe one day I cannot tahan liao then suddenly become iphone user... |

QUOTE(sHin0bi @ Feb 7 2008, 10:50 PM) same here. But then again i hope that mr.jobs will make the iphone available officially here in malaysia. Or when the SDK is available this month so i heard, then i might consider getting 1. Hopefully the price will go down alot like in the US. The price there is amazing compare to what the non-authorized sellers. But don't put too high hope for that loh. Maybe like US you have to tie to Maxis/Digi/Celcom to use it, or pay a premium for unlock version. And then if looking at ipod's price, USD 399 is selling some RM1500 here, so probably USD 499 will be something like RM1899 or RM1999 gua...Let's hope lah, have to admit I fall in love with iphone already... |

QUOTE(ddww @ Feb 8 2008, 10:06 AM) if you really want iPhone you might consider the april released one... it has 3G, MMS, and bluetooth data transfer function in it... i donno i just don really like current iPhone... always play with my frens' but whenever they say switch phone to use for few days i just don wan... to be honest, the screen resolution is superb (which nokia has got years to improve), the music quality Thanks for the advice! I've saw some photo samples taken by iphone, to be honest, it looks quite clean and neat for a 2MP camera, better than my old E70. It actually get the job done pretty well for a casual shooting, of course, Mr. Job die die don't want to put any setting for the camera, only zoom in/out, not even a night mode...Also at least a simple LED and auto focus will be really neat, video recording or not I'm not quite worried as I believe there'll be someone coming out with one. And I wonder why, no MMS, no BT transfer... Anyway N95 8GB is still a great phone to use, and will serve me for a very long time as I don't change phone quite often. If it's not my E70 spoiled due to accident I'm still using the good old E70 until now (purchased Nov 2006). It's just that, sometimes using a complicated phone for long time I tend to feel that I need a simple phone to enjoy. We'll just see how it goes...Maybe Nokia will come out their S60 Touch that'll just blow iphone off the water, although I seriously doubt it (someone found out iphone actually equipped with a 600+MHz CPU! Some more with a true 8hours talk time! Beat that!)... This post has been edited by pigcat: Feb 8 2008, 12:27 PM |

QUOTE(D-Zire @ Feb 8 2008, 06:49 PM) totally agreed with u guys that iPhone's GUI beats any mobile devices OS hands down...b4 i actually gotten this n95 8gb i was considering getting an iphone but then after giving it a serious thoughts due to no warranty and cant be use on maxis so i decided to get nokia instead...i'll go for iphone for my next phone....hehe Yeah, if future iphone support at least MMS and BT data transfer (at least fulfill the basic phone needs), and will officially launch in Malaysia, I'll definitely go for it. I always wonder why people so crazy about iphone when there're tons of better phones out there until I sit down and play with one kao kao and test all the functions. One thing about buying Apple product, the price is pretty stable (unless there's new model replacing it). So you won't scare buy one from a shop but just next shop is RM50 cheaper lol. In comparison to iphone, at this stage the very big problem about symbian phones is that the hardware spec is too many variations. Most 3rd party developers having hard time to make full use of the hardwares and need to release many version in order to keep up the specs. Like SpotOn, don't work on latest Nokia phones due to the different method of charging the LED. And then the most wanted game softwares - emulators. Even though Nokia phones today is pretty much powerful but those software writter has yet to make full use of the hardware, emulating only SNES also suffer so much and have to switch off the audio in order to run smooth (not THAT smooth either, to be honest). Same goes to media player, especially video, it's laggy even though N95/N82 has good hardware. Apple has been doing very well in this aspects, not much variants, simple and neat, developers can focus more on writting than squeeze the brain juice to think about hardware variants. I'm sure it's just the matter of time when Apple will put all the functions in iphone as iphone is running OS afterall, consider a half smartphone already. And, 600mhz CPU woh, when Nokia will put that in their phones? Ok ok I must stop mumbling iphones in N95 8GB thread already... Any nice CNY pictures to post? QUOTE(ggMing @ Feb 8 2008, 08:41 PM) iphone can be used with maxis... although i do not know what is there to do with the iphone to make it work... Basically iphone is phone + ipod lo + wifi lo, nothing much can be done as it's designed as such. I find I watch animations/movies and listen to music and wifi'ingmore than anything else lately on my N95 8GB. At first I use all the functions la but sometimes I just find I'm using them for the sake of, uh, using them lol. Of course sometimes the functions pretty handy when needed, but I don't think I can't live without them. Moreover I do music production for living, and I love music so I can just have a phone that the quality focused more on multimedia entertainment lo.my gf, my sister and her husband is using iphone.... they are all using maxis... i find iphone is attractive.. but without wifi, there isn't much to do... for me, i'll go for N95 8G... well, at least IMHO, when i don't like my N95 8G, i can sell it off... easier than selling an iphone... my 2 cents worth.. That's just me, maybe. As for selling the iphone, maybe that's just the matter of current situation, people just don't want to take risk gua. But I think the resale value of iphone is higher than N95 8GB due to the rare'ness of iphone. |

QUOTE(MattJ @ Feb 9 2008, 08:00 AM) Guys, Sorry la it's my fault to start all the mess... This is N95 8gb thread, why suddenly so much talk 'bout Iphone? I also own one, but N95 8 gb still one of my FAV, infact am using as my modem for doing this now on my lappie. Speedwise, it showed faster bandwidth than my Tytn II. Anyway N95 8GB also has been discussed 100+ plus pages already mah... Actually N95 8GB WiFi is more powerful than many mobile devices, not even iphone can compete with the reception... I don't have the luxurious life of using phone as modem and I never bring my laptop on the go so not needed anyway. How do you find the battery life when using 3G? QUOTE(HolyCross @ Feb 12 2008, 02:08 PM) what is dual-LED?? Nothing beat xenon flash for still image, xenon is those flash used on standalone camera. Dual LED means, uh, to put it simple, 2 light bulb... better then xenon? hmm wondering...can i sell my n95 8gb to the seller and buy n96?? if i sell...how much will it cost?? However, xenon flash cannot stay on for long time, just very short impulse. LED can stay on for long time, if software allowed to do it, you can use LED to record video with the light stay on. QUOTE(leekweehui @ Feb 12 2008, 03:28 PM) wah u guys so fast turncoat one. i not going to buy any new one in at least 3 years. Know what, I'm getting the iphone soon...So tempting la...It's not N95 8GB not good, in fact it's still the best all rounded multimedia phone. It's just that I'm getting less use on the functions already so I'm thinking of switching...At least not something too expensive lo 16GB directly from US around RM1700... Storage is not my concern. 8GB is more than enough to use. What i want is faster performance (processor, ram) and battery life. No point buy this n96 for extra storage. Camera is still LED though. Memory card is the only advantage for me. I have problem transferring song/image. Very mafan have to do 'data transfer' when plug in cable. Added on February 12, 2008, 6:23 pm By the way, I've been staying in healthy GSM signal zone in the past few days. My phone fully charged on evening of friday, until now, still got 3 bars left! I only make calls and sms, and few mins wifi'ing, several pictures la. Just very light usage. But the standby time is the longest the phone ever reach... I'm starting to hate the camera view finder of N95 8GB, it's hard to judge what's going to come out by just judging on the view finder...Kinda render it useless. I prefer a lower fps but mroe accurate "what you see is what you'll get" type of preview. Even W810i can do better...

I've mentioned it earlier in this thread. This phone looked best naked. Get Martin Field Screen Protector to protect important part and you're set.
