The best way, go google for GPU-Z and run it. It might be some driver crash. Try format ur pc and install fresh driver.

hmm i shall try that command once i get a working XP cd.but does this fixboot command require a reformatting?or will it make me lose all my files? thanks man
i lazy to reformat lah..installed bloody alot of stuff in my pc already so very lazy to reinstall and reconfigure everything.anyway i cant do anything now cause i dont have the XP cd to reformat or run recovery console.
if im not mistaken you have to x2 for the 550Mhz ram speed.cause i used GPU-Z too and it shows my 6800GS ram speed as 600Mhz.which should be 1200Mhz in real time.

or you can try using Everest Ultimate Edition to check your card specs.

and afaik normal 6600GT is running at 500/1000 speed and 450/900 for AGP version.so your's must be a factory OC-ed edition.
