People need to remember high GDP per capita also meant people there have to spend tons of money daily to keep the GDP numbers up, singapore and usa is a great example.

The annually div they get for retires is getting smaller when your country is getting expensive to live.

Cost of living is not only based on eating at SB and MCD, I am sure these are not the items in the cost of living index of Spore.

Work in SG, stay in JB, WIN-WIN, esp when RTS is operational. If got a SG flat to rent out, FIREd.

When more of them realise this they would move to Johor to FIREd. Imagine renting out their flat for SGD4k~RM12k, n rent one in Kluang for RM1k with 11k to spend. Going back to SG is easy with ETS+RTS.

If you own a house, that's pretty much it. Hence, most of them can afford to travel to other countries couple of times yearly.

Rental is the most expensive part of the cost of living in sg. Other than that, everything is pretty much affordable.

A meal is on average $4 if you eat outside at hawker, average about $7 if you eat at food court.

Buying import things, generally sg pay the same as what msia have to pay. Unless those products r made in msia, yes they are more expensive in sg.

My average household is about $5k per month for 3 ppl. But in return, we earn at 2x of what we spend. And, yes we are underpaid compared to sgreans. We took up a lower pay to get hired. Else it could easily hit 3x.
