I can fully understand if they were against the idea of a pet friendly mall due to hygiene issues. But if it was because the "pets" in question relates to dogs, then it reinforces the fact that there's no such thing as mutual respect, rather its more of a "if I cant, you also cant" mentality.

There are at least 2 more pet friendly malls in Selangor.

I have nothing against pets but a few irresponsible pet owners are causing trouble. I’ve seen pet droppings at the mall car park several times before.

I was a pet owner for nearly 2 decades. My pet passed away last year from old age. Yes my maid handled my pet all along, no she does not mind, she loved her as much as anyone in my family.

Think of it this way. You and your family love your pet, your pet loves you. That's fine. The thing is, other people do not. Especially when it intrudes into their private spaces. The smell, the hair, the pet itself. Others accepting it is them being gracious. Expecting others to accept that is being obnoxious.

There are places I never bring my pet to: restaurants/eating places, enclosed air conditioned places, outdoor events with many people, other people's houses. Anywhere it might make others uncomfortable. I have never understood those who treat their pets like their sons/daughters, carrying them around like little babies. You might be fine with that, but that is not for me, sorry.

Let's be honest, many pet owners themselves are not ready for this, aside from the obvious resistance from a particular group.

in contrary, generally the worst dog owners are those small breed owners.
a lot of them likes to bark at stranger, pick fight with bigger dogs, & cibai owner thinks it's to let them unleash, & sits on restaurant chair.
& their mindset is "it's ok la, cuz my dog so small, no potential to do real damage to others also."

cibai owner, u got kena bite small pom for example with their tiny teeth?
will still bleed & pain.
& even if your dog does zero bite damage, that behavior will still cause other people & other pets to be uneasy.

Those who love to get their pet go shopping should campaign and get someone to build Pet Mall
