Any ktards tried stainless steel “ice” cubes to replace actual ice cubes?

Theoretical advantage:
- the SS cubes won’t dilute your drink

Available versions:
- stainless steel 304 (normal food safe standard)
- stainless steel 316 (medical grade standard, won’t corrode under acidic drink like Coca Cola etc)

After some use u will get steel taste in ur drinks as well

I used to using SS thermal insulated cup for cold drinks, but then I learned that SS304 actually will corrode under acidic carbonated drink, so now I only use ceramic mug for carbonated acidic drink.

Only SS316 grade will resist corrosion from acidic drink/food, so now I also wonder if all the market stainless steel cookwares are really safe if prolong use with acidic or spicy food, maybe they will leak out small traces of metal and leads to heavy metal poisoning?

Wouldn't this be a very stupid invention lol. Steel is much more heavy and doesnt have as much specific heat capacity as water so you need more to cool same amount of water

Got some, and they're quite useless tbh. From experience, felt like need 4 of them to give the same cooling effect of 1 water ice cube

oh no, i tot 1 steel cube has more cooling effect than 1 ice cube hence the invention. this is seriously pathetic.

why wanna risk putting more steel into body than necessary when cookware already exposing us enough of unwanted metal.

It’s not solid SS cube, SS is the cube casing, inside got liquid like ethanol or something.

Useless la. Ice cubes has much greater thermal capacity. Better cooling potential. Almost 9 times better. People underestimate how much heat removed during a phase change.

You’ll need lots of ice doing so, normal household how many ppl dedicate their fridge to making so much ice?

For me, i prefer 1 water cube on my whisky anyway. Neat too powderful for me lol
