I think learning extra languages is an advantage to our students. Tak kisah lah what language. We shouldn't block them from pursuing knowledge.

However bahasa kebangsaan is Bahasa Melayu, so that should be the criteria if you are looking for entry requirements.

It is like if you look for entry to universities in other countries, they may require you to show proof of proficiency in that language.

Get the fact right.

UEC is only if you willing to take it.

Seriously though, my personal take is that we want the students to not only understand their classes but also integrate well into campus life. In universities, it isn't just exams, but our students need to collaborate, form networks, and pave the foundations for their future careers. It would be good if our national language can be the common language for our graduates.

You also know PMX favorite hobby is using words everyone needs to check the dictionary for right, lol.

Same like A-levels being taught in Malay. That will be a showstopper for them or any other alternative qualification. Imposing that will be like every other country in the world denying entry to our students because our courses are not in English or their national language.

Entry requirements eg IELTS or TOEFL or 1119 for English, is the more widely adopted approach internationally.

Not everybody can afford international schools, and even among our politicians, not everyone came from elite international schools. We also have so many /ktards who have 20k per month salaries who do not come from international schools. I would prefer to think that if the policy is good, it will benefit the vast majority of Malaysians.
