The way this is being discussed is stupid. While it isn't the biggest problem the nation is facing, it is certainly the most contentious.
Firstly there are people asking for UEC recognition without telling us what the benefits are. Then there are individuals arguing against it on the basis of fear. Then there are those who use personal anecdotes that UEC graduates kenot speak Malay worth a damn. Liao our PM bring out the most hypocritical justification against it. Almost nobody had addressed the real matter. Let me tell you this : Any institution of learning is made up of talent, material and equipment. If you want the best university, then you'll have to have the best teachers, the best knowledge, the best labs and most relevantly to this topic, the best students. That is why there is a selection process for student admission. That means individuals with the intellect and motivation to learn and use their knowledge to create something better. If you do that enough times, someday we'd have our own Einstein or Jensen Huang. Meaning that we will have exceptional individuals that contribute to our nation intellectually or economically in a big way. We don't have to look from afar and say this guy was born in Malaysia as though Hock Tan running a giant company that pays tax and hires tens of thousands outside of Malaysia is beneficial to our society. It is rational to think that there are individuals among any demographic that fit the criteria, including UEC graduates. The fact that we unquestioningly exclude this group means that we are knowingly reducing our chances of having an Einstein or Jensen Huang. To be clear, my statement does not mean to say that every UEC student or graduate is smarter, and it is just as true that not every matrikulasi or asasi student is dumber. It just means that casting the net wider gets you more fish. Politically, the act of excluding an entire demographic from your society's education system goes against the very idea of nation building. There should be a more mature discourse about this, and the proponents of UEC recognition should gather some statistics as to how much value UEC graduates have created outside of our country and that would be quite compelling to make everyone realize that bringing them into the fold would add value to our nation. Instead, we have elected representatives arguing for and against it in slogans. Which is kind of big bright signboard with speakers on showing that our society is excellent in bringing out the stupid by not bringing in the smart. Lagi satu, last mia, do realize that this debate is manufactured for the sole reason of fishing for your votes and has got nothing to do with making our society better. Deswai ayam retrospectively regret using minutes of my life typing this. This post has been edited by hotdayum: Yesterday, 12:50 PM |

QUOTE(RGRaj @ Dec 13 2025, 12:48 PM) Chinese generally aren’t upset about whether UEC gets recognized or not — they’re more frustrated that politicians no telur, double headed and double standard. Coming GEs, i think it would be swing 1 coalition 1 term. Which is good |

Malaysia kalau mau discuss something mesti devolve into my party > your party instead of on the topic itself.
Now even better as we move the category into a race to the bottom, my party less shit than your party. |

Both DAP and PAS rely on fear, anger, and identity politics to survive. They just target different demographics.Hadi: Other races are challenging Muslim's political power: https://www.nst.com.my/news/politics/2023/0...political-power Hadi: Non-Muslims must be grateful for ‘being given a place’ here, should just let Malays continue leading country: https://www.malaymail.com/news/malaysia/202...g-country/73042 Hadi: Only Islam can rule, others must be 'pak turut': https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/357628 PAS politicians insinuated that their rivals are the enemies of Allah: https://www.malaymail.com/news/malaysia/202...ies-video/76640 Non muslim woman fined for wearing shorts in Kelantan: https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/n...rts-in-kelantan Non muslim unisex salon ban + closure: https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2022/12/...offenders-fines Non muslims are the root of corruption https://www.malaymail.com/news/malaysia/202...-of-corruption/ PAS/Zul Zuhaimy: Mahu sembelih orang bukan Islam: https://www.utusan.com.my/nasional/2022/11/...imy-mohon-maaf/ Hadi: Malaysia has to be ruled by muslims: https://buletinonlines.net/v7/index.php/mal...h-melayu-islam/ PAS: Nurse's clothing too tight: https://www.malaysiadateline.com/dakwa-paka...tuan-jururawat/ PAS: No concerts because they promote hedonism: https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2022...artist-concerts Covid white flag: https://www.therakyatpost.com/news/malaysia...g-aid-movement/ Just as PAS tells rural Malays that "DAP is a threat to Islam," DAP tells urban non-Malays that "PAS is a threat to your lifestyle." Both sides use fear to lock in votes. PAS calls DAP 'enemies of the religion' to scare Malays. DAP calls PAS 'Taliban' to scare Chinese. Both are exaggerations designed to make you terrified of the 'Other' rather than voting on policy. You cited PAS calling non-Muslims the "root of corruption." DAP has faced similar accusations of using derogatory language against Malays or their political rivals, which is often perceived as chauvinism. PAS insults non-Muslims by calling them corrupt. DAP (via Superman Hew) has insulted Malays by reducing them to political tools to be 'screwed.' Both sides strip the dignity of the other race when the microphones are off (or on). PAS is often accused of acting "holier than thou." DAP is often accused of acting "smarter than thou"…talking down to voters they don't control. PAS demands gratitude and submission from non-Muslims. DAP demands submission from states like Sarawak, threatening them with bankruptcy if they don't vote the 'right way.' Both display an arrogant 'We know better than you' attitude. If you had forgotten, LGE told sarawak they would go bankrupt within 3 years if they didnt let PH rule there lulz. You get angry when PAS questions non-Muslim citizenship. But DAP leaders like Kula have also questioned Malay indigeneity. Both sides play with historical fire to fire up their own base, ignoring the hurt it causes the other side. Also, Kula used PAS’ playbook, cakap dulu without brain, later say sorry. Deswai, DAP and PAS are symbiotic. DAP needs a scary PAS to get Chinese votes. PAS needs a scary DAP to get Malay votes. If one disappears, the other loses their main campaign weapon. That is why they are the same coin. |

QUOTE(maxpudding @ Dec 14 2025, 12:06 AM) Of course state power only confines to state punya uni and government job la takkan bodoh nk rampas kuasa federal government pulak? Same goes to Selangor UNISEL state own uni recognising UEC. Same applies to Penang Sarawak & Malacca. The relevancy of DAP lost all seats has nothing to do with UEC at all |

QUOTE(maxpudding @ Dec 14 2025, 12:30 AM) Here’s my overview on why I said you guys are basically just the same people, different skin color only. Both DAP and PAS rely on fear, anger, and identity politics to survive. They just target different demographics. So the whole word salad above basically says there's no evidence of DAP saying things like puak halal are the enemies, or puak halal are the root of corruption, or puak halal can only be pak turut cannot hold power, or kasi sembelih puak halal, or ask you to pray harder instead of actually helping out, so you're making up whatever imaginary slights there is and extrapolate from there to paint DAP same as PAS. Ok notedJust as PAS tells rural Malays that "DAP is a threat to Islam," DAP tells urban non-Malays that "PAS is a threat to your lifestyle." Both sides use fear to lock in votes. |
