2NR-VE 1.5 again , meaning now all 3 1.5 P2 models share the same engine ,

myvi, alza and traz .

kinda make sense they leave out the hybrid version to toyolta .

Ok what. Later engine maintenance find sparepart woso easy.

Sneaky Proton also allowing AMA02 Saga Cross pictures start circulating.

If they revert their 1.5L BHE15 engine to otto cycle pair with DCT gearbox and price standard variant below 50k, mostly likely will outsell Traz next year by a hugh margin.

So likely mid-70’s for lowest variants to mid 80’s for top variant.
There shd be 3 variants type like Ativa.
*
Only 2 variants this time?

Mid 80s for top variant you think? 🤔
Would u buy Traz at 85K vs X50 at 86K

Saw Yaris Cross Brunei plate before. Boring old design. Looks like 2020 designed car. But:
1. Myvi engine-damn reliable even when abused.
2. Toyota DNA, resale value second to none.
3. Clutch based cvt. No complaint here.
Overall a very safe car to buy.

a model that was launched in 2023 in other countries.. only launching here after nearly 3 years

if it's merely changing bumper/grill w/o any meaningful updates.. it should be DoA, but considering the fanaticism for P2 and T brand.. there still will be takers
just that feels bad when not long after receiving Traz/Yaris Cross in M'sia, our neighbours will get their FL updated versions

Shd be 3 variants. Toyota cross is 2 variants - both are HEV but different levels of accessories , I suppose.
Will still go for trax, honestly. Reliable engine and better quality of services. Not to mention fuel economy. X50 looks impressive with all the bells and whistles but it is a Chinese car. At this stage, I still prefer reliability of japs vs the Chinese. After all, I buy a car not for its power/torque. Just to get from A to B, without any fuss.

Yeah, its the same as what honda is doing.

The same NA i-vtec for 4 of their lineups. City, city HB, wrv, hrv s .

Its just that you have to settle the engine characteristics across different bodies .

Like the vtec, its perfect in city, but ppl say its underpowered in HRV.

See what is the weight of P2 Traz, and whether there is good body to power ratio to not make it underpowered . Anyhow will wait this 18th.

Is it really clutched based CVT? Wouldn't it jerk like Punch CVT when moving from standstill?

I started off driving manual car, so I understand why it jerks when moving off from stationary.

Crap. I was thinking of the Saga Punch CVT, I meant to say torque converter.

Daihatsu gearbox in several Perodua models is a really advanced hybrid system which consist of CVT + planetary gear that is light, efficient and proven to be robust enough when not pushed beyond it's 150Nm limit. However this limits the choice of engines to only NA units such as the ubiquitous 2NR-VE that dished out max 140Nm

Similar to Toyota's hybrid gearbox (gear + CVT) but implemented in reverse (CVT + gear) by Daihatsu engineers to fulfill duties in A& B segment models worldwide.
