Of course insurance will have to pay/appeal. It’s under their liability cover.

It's unclear why the compensation clams and settlements are broken into so many different groups and litigation claims?
239 Total Passengers and crew
47 cases "settled"
23 "under trial"
8 under this "current ruling"
what about the rest?

That this remains an open case in 2025, and unresolved questions abound is a badge of shame on everyone involved - with secrets that might take another generation to be revealed - and is an open sore for the families of the victims, who deserve much better. They have our respect and sympathy for the long pain and suffering endured.

It depends whether the next of kin want to initiate legal proceedings to begin with.

Some would just take what is offered on the table and as /k like to say, move on with life.
