QUOTE(littlefire @ Dec 15 2025, 12:31 PM) I believe Perodua marketing did wrong with the BaaS, they already got leasing program for Ativa Hybrid. At oversea & even some foreign car sellers if dont want 2nd value drop too much, new owners can opt for leasing program. This would be the best way to couter it without complicated payment to both banker & perodua. The ativa hybrid is open to their friendly parties, after 5 years they will take back since it is only solely for leasing. Perodua was too comfortable at car price below RM80k, once they step into above RM80k market and especially EV they seem losing out, especially the horrible interior who copy part of Ativa/Myvi/Bezza/Axia etc. Perodua top management still carrying the mentality of retaining high 2nd hand value into EV market, EV improve by leaps and bounds year by year, if by year 2027 u have a similar competitor car with RM80k price tag and giving 55kwh battery with 450km WLTP, who will buy this QVE with even with RM60k price tag, market demand will adjust it down until RM40-50k until it find a buyer. No way Perodua can manipulate the 2nd hand market demand unless they put in agreed value after X amount of years like BMW did. QUOTE(wkc5657 @ Dec 15 2025, 03:34 PM) the baffling part is why Magna Steyr was the platform partner instead of CATL....EV daikor and scale is definitely in and from china, not in orang putih land....with such small volume and cannot sell at premium pricing, cannot fathom why the business decision maker opt for Magna Magna Steyr has strong presence at China too, i would not surprise if this come from the China office.could have saved quite some many millions if platform and battery from the same vendor CATL.....could have saved extra additional millions further due to reduced cost of platform integration and testing (since it is same source)...which would reflect in final sticker price |

QUOTE(HotshotS @ Dec 1 2025, 09:43 PM) They couldn't make cheap EVs at this moment because it's their first ever EV developed from scratch so they couldn't push the price down due to many factors including new parts, supply chain efficiency, lack of scale and so on. Even Tesla started with higher end Model S and Model X before targeting mainstream customers with Model 3 and Model Y so I would say give Perodua more time. Likewise, Proton also started with eMas7 before launching eMas5. Let's hope they could come out with a budget model in the not too distant future! No chance for Perodua or Japan brands when it comes to EV which basically donimant by Tesla and Chinese brands. Tesla make the car like Apple while Chinese brands are like Android with full pack of features at low price. Proton backed up by Geely is one of top tier in making EV and rebadge the Geely model. Geely also own the Zeekr, Volvo car & Smart which selling in Malaysia. Since Perodua QV-E already launched in Malaysia, how this vehicle market to our neigbour countries and what is the projection of sales volume? In China the Geely group is selling million of vehicle for their EV and this bring down the cost. For Perodua they can't even compete with their smallest brands in term of volume, without protection from our government the Perodua will remain uncompetitive at all. |
