A hill fire erupted behind Wong Shiu Chi Secondary School in Tai Po on Wednesday night, just hours after a No. 5 alarm blaze at the nearby Wang Fuk Court.

Police received multiple reports at around 10:13pm about flames on the hillside behind the school, located approximately 700 meters from the scene of the earlier fatal fire.

people wanna ask why HK is HK today

the fire hasn't even been completely extinguish yet, the police already arrested multiple people and pressed charges
ICAC also begun their investigation

the level of efficiency of law enforcement there

While it's good that they are taking action AFTER something bad happened

Lives already lost and the whole disaster could have been preventable if government are more stringent against developers and contractors

Some will say it's due to China takeover but a lot of people won't acknowledge that the root cause of a lot of issues in HK today is due to their property industry

Government is reluctant to take action because they are overly reliant on property sectors for revenue. This problem is not new and started way back during British colonialism

The staff working for the company that insure the buildings can kiss their year end bonus goodbye

The insurance claims will definitely hit the company badly

the government did, it's the contractor songlap

the law already stated they must use fireproof cover = HKD80
but contractor chose to use plastic cover = HKD50(which is why the fire spread so fast)
and then multiple caught contractor worker smoking at the bamboo scaffolding

u tell me who's fault is it ultimately laugh.gif

nah, it's the other way around

there are A LOT of thing that u can still do in china but it's illegal and will be caught and fined if you do it in HK
rules and laws are way more strict in HK compared to china which i think why china want HK so badly
taking HK, directly can claim as developed country laugh.gif

If you watch the whistleblower video, he said the government is also guilty

Both the Head of Bomba and Housing say it's ok despite him warning since last year

I think there was a councilor who called the whistleblower troublemaker

if law enforcement really efficient, then they would have caught the contractor before the fire ever occured.

yes, part of the fault is also government because they didn't go regular monitoring and inspection

u really need to differentiate between enforcement and monitoring

enforcement is cop's job
monitoring isn't...that's another department to make sure everything is according to spec and law

There's a complaint made by someone to the Hong Kong govt about the fireproof cover way back in 2024. The govt reply there's no need for fireproof.

Next month HK have an upcoming election. Emperor Xi have already spoken about this matter. The past HK the truth would probably come to light but not the current govt. I'm sensing an incoming coverup. innocent.gif

On the other hand, I think there is going to be pressure from Xi to HK Chief Executive to crackdown on some of the government Heads. Xi build his reputation on combating corruption and this is the best opportunity for him to show he means biz in HK.

Hong Kong is experiencing generally dry conditions and below-normal rainfall during November 2025, consistent with its typical dry season and a broader climate trend, but authorities have not declared an official "drought".

After years of combating corruption, corruption is still very rampant in china. You have to wonder if he's actually combating corruption or removing his opponents. But then at the same time, many of his closest allies have also been pull down from their seats because of corruption. There are many factions in china with their internal infighting. That is why i highly doubt he can even solve corruption.
