I been thinking to rent a room for my own personal space and free from kitchen smell

I stay in a room where i share the space with my father like the picture below , my mother sleep in seperate room and wont affect her in whatsoever ( yes u guy have guessed, family issue since i was a kid, it is miracle how long they can handle this relationship ) ,my sister already married so she cant help in this situation.

Recently we have a small quarrel how to use the air cond, cause the air cond compressor will absorb those kitchen smell , sometime the neighbour will cook at 3am, yesterday, at sharp 3:15am, they literally cook fried onion and God what know they cook, causing the whole room to have smell of the fried onion, also sometime, petai 3am.

I even tired my best to seal the window etc etc and air purifier etc etc (i dont want say the brand, later get sue) , both not workable.

This has been ongoing for few years already

i cant tahan anymore , i am very sensetive to smell as i have chronic asthma, and my parent cannot understand how butthurt i am when i start to smell these thing , my parent even dismiss these issue

Few option lies ahead of me

1. Buy 2 actual window that can seal both sound and air , that would be obviously out from my pocket and make my father mad ( he recently replace the window but the air still leaking in ) but this wont solve the aircond problem

2. Rent a room , it is okay within my salary and solve my personal problem but the smell will persist in my house , endangering my father health ( what surprise me that he say it is okay with the smell as it remind of his mother which pass away recently few year ago )

3. Got a aircond that can magically change bad odour smell / kitchen smell to a fresh air smell ? , i dont think so, if got pls recommend and must be good one because the smell is terrible strong

It is obviously i would go 2nd option but there is few question, what would be my parent reaction, is this consider as disobedient child ? as i say before, my parent and sister are full of misandry and misogynist, will fight for any brownie point to win and prove point, belittling each other.

just rent out and get a room if can afford, usually these family disputes are extremely petty and tiresome to deal with

for better quality of life just let your parents deal with it themselves. its not your problem

Look at locations where logical to you, consider the price & logistics.

Then execute the plan to do so, can visit home whenever need arises.

But you need ensure they can live on their own.

Show the entire floor plan of the place ... the hall, dining, bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen .... and where you suspect the smell comes from.

Also, U didn't mentioned is highrise or terrace.

Two rooms terrace house ?

Moving out is a quick fix solution and if doesnt affect U financially but U may have to deal with other problems in a shared house. U can't control your neighbours, similarly U also can't control the other rooms occupant.

Have U tried sleeping in the living area ?

I know TS , coz I have been in this situation before.

My parents was toxic , can't stand to live with them. This kenot, that kenot, everyday got something tak ok punya .

When I got the chance to move away to Borneo, I took it without hesitation. Initially I was afraid, same like u . But looking back , it probably was the best decision of my life.

If I'd stayed another minute in that house , I prolly will suicide ady .

But when in borneo, after quite some time, few years, I had to come back to take care of them . after 2 yrs , mother passed away . now left with father. this are my luck, what to do . No other siblings want to take care, so its just me .

but for me as long as they are healthy and can live independently, also got another sibling there, they should be fine. Just visit them occasionally, bring some gifts, etc. You should not care if they are "dissapointed" with you or whatever. Each of us should have our own lives .

sorry for the long post , coz I'm reminded by my past looking at your post.
