I need to change my car's cooling coil. Something is leaking after going through a few air con services, they conclude it's likely coming from cooling coil as the outer area doesn't show any leak. The air also starts to smell, so suspect of mold built up in cooling coil.

I'm likely going to buy my own parts, but would like to know what would be a reasonable fee for the installation + gas?
I'm looking for some recommendation, please share if you guys have any contact for a good price around KL/Selangor area.

Thanks.

Not a good idea to buy own parts. If the mechanic screwed up the installation, your parts will be the first to be 'faulty' 🤑

That's typically the case, when they don't have enough experience, plus wanting to sell their own parts. It can be a dodgy industry.

The important U must find a regular trusted mechanic. Let them earned some from sale of spare parts. Any problem later, he will correct it.

My mechanic for 30 years ...I did top overhaul two months ago for my 13 years mpv. Took 3 days to complete with videos of each replacement done ... peace of mind.

In addition, all my service records are kept in their PC. Can always refer when I last change for eg timing belt and mileage.

I went to Ming Wah before. Fast and affordable.
Unfortunately, when they put back the dashboard, there were some loose parts. Now got sound when the car is moving.

If you want good workmanship, the best bet is still the 3S centres.

I bought Condensor, cooling coil, Compressor online shopee whole aircond system for them. They charged a labour RM900 for 2 whole day with all services + full gas.
Now my aircond never gone full blast, mostly open 20%-50%, cool like fuck.

Not sure what car model are yours

but my merc cooling coil deep inside the dashboard, the labour fee konfirm more than the product itself, so the foreman told me dont save that money buy OEM, original better lifepsan price diffrence only RM50-RM100 because you're not dissemble the dashboard every year, likely only once a lifetime just to fix that fucking cooling coil.

That's a good point! i am going to get an original part. and even after getting one, i realized the cost of product + installation is still cheaper than buy parts from them! That's when i learn everytime i buy my own parts, i usually save 300 - 400, while learning their margin is so freaking high.

with this 3 parts i bought online, Condensor, cooling coil, compressor, and some other small air-cond kit, i saved more than RM1500.

But we have to understanding one thing that, we need to bear the risk of failure of the product as it it brought ourself, we might have warranty with the shopee seller, but we dont have it guarentee from the shop. When shits happen, we need to bear the time and effort to reinstall and pay the 2x labour fee. That's the downside when we bring our own parts.
