i have seen a kind of connector that is having a RJ45 crossover at one end and at the other end, is a USB (female).

ok, i always transfer mp3, avi, jpg, etc. from PC and save them to xbox (xbmc) harddisk via FTP using crossover cable (connecting to xbox's ethernet port).

having seen the connector that i mentioned above, i am wondering whether i could connect the RJ45 to the xbox's ethernet port and connect the other end, which is the USB (female); to my pendrive and don't want to use the FTP way of transfering.

can i see the pendrive in xbmc file directories and copying the files in my pendrive to the xbox's harddisk? just like we plug in our pendrive to the PC USB and copying files from it to the harddisk. does it work like this way?

pls enlighten me. thanks in advance!

Dont't think you can do that. Your xbox ethernet port is for network usage, even if you plug in a USB at the other end it wouldn't be able to understand the signals. Even if its technically feasible to use USB through RJ45 (dont think so), xbox needs to have the driver to actually understand it.

i too, don't think that would work...

if im not mistaken, the converter u saw is a part of multi-purpose cable set or something.... the connectors are interchangeable but it only works when both ends are using the same connector coz there's no conversion circuit, just wires. some sort of a all-in-one cable kit.

i have a suggestion but i'm not sure if this would work but here goes... if XBMC supports USB mass storage via xbox controller ports, you can get a controller port to USB cable and connect ur pendrive there....

*edit: i think it should work... read this and get a cable like this.

so will the USB adaptor cable work the way i wanted? sure? and i can see my pendrive in xbmc if using this cable? a guy mentioned that it is picky and didn't recognise his USB thumbdrive.

i am not sure what is the version of my xbmc but the skin is like the 360 one. something like MC360....

so anybody has this cable, tried it and successful???

yeah it's a bit picky... check the page i posted above, it has a list of tested and working pendrives... and also, the xbox 1 is usb 1.1 only, so no fast usb2.0 transfers. you can check xbmc version in 'System Information'

i myself haven't use this method before, don't have that cable. i dont transfer files to the xbox hdd, just stream from network share.

edit: just so that everyone's on the same page, we're talking bout the usb to controller port cable here, not the rj-45 to usb thingy anymore.
