In the past, it was a quota system, and he wanted meritocracy. When it became meritocracy, Bumiputera numbers increased even more because they were strong.

Now he’s bringing up the STPM vs. Matriculation issue, claiming that Matric is another quota. He tries to exaggerate by giving an example of someone ranked 1129 in STPM who didn’t even take Math but wanna take account

He says Matric students are “dumb,” even though those entering Matric are among the selected top SPM students. To him, STPM is a higher caste and more powerful.

Now he wants to abolish Matric and make everyone take STPM.

Fast forward, even in STPM Bumiputera will dominate because of population numbers while the nons birth rate lower—just look at SPM results as the closest example where even with single exam the bumi dominate in high score

If Matriculation is guaranteed to a first degree program and has quota for it, what made you think the entry to first degree is based on Meritocracy?

There is no quota anymore

UM clarified all is merit

But now he say Matric is lower quality and easy to score

Seems the world top university say like Cambridge and Oxford and MIT say otherwise and accepting matric students like STPM

Thanks for sharing the news. 16% of 40000 is about 6400 matriculation students with a 4.00 CGPA. That figure helps explain why Edward could only rank 1129 as it’s generally easier to achieve high scores in the matriculation programme as exams are marked by lecturers. Maxpudding’s claim that I “inflated” the numbers are totally inaccurate and biased.

It may also help explain why only 1–2% of STPM students gain admission into critical courses !

All top uni like MIT, Harvard, Oxford and Cambridge accept matriculation and here you are saying matriculation is low quality

The claim ‘inflated’ is just due to number of Bumi population is high compared to dwindling nons that taking stpm

I was curious about the student diversity of University Malaya's accounting course, so I looked up last year's graduation roll.

As it turns out, the local students who graduated last year were approximately,
Malays: 35%
Chinese: 53%
Indians: 12%

This means that for this particular batch of students, when compared against the ethnic composition of Malaysia, the Chinese are actually 209% against our nation population the Indians are 159% , and the Malays are at 52%
