No, the problem is not understanding crypto.  Firstly crypto transaction fees are not based on % but its mostly fixed per transaction regardless the amount transferred.  If you send small amounts using BTC, then you are sohai and you do not understand crypto.

Secondly, BTC has never been about cheap transactions in general.  If you want cheap transactions, there are so many other cryptos to use.  Again, this just shows the lack of understanding of crypto, then blame crypto.  Typical uneducated sohai who thinks they are smart.
