Hi Guys,

Appreciate your help on this matter.
I'm currently on the 500Mbps plan, and Unifi had given me the All-In-One Combo box (Fiberhome HG6145F3). I prefer to use my own router and use an Asus ExpertWifi EBG19P.
When I use the Fiberhome in Combo mode, I can get the full rated 500Mbps speed. But when I use it in Bridge mode with the Asus, I only get 100Mbps.
1) Tried changing cables from various CAT5E cables, still get 100Mbps
2) Tried with my older router which is an Asus RT-AX86u and still get 100Mbps

So I feel like I narrowed it down to the Fiberhome Box.
In the Fiberhome web interface it is showing 1000bps for the LAN1 port of which the Asus router is connected. The Asus interface also shows WAN as a 1Gbps connection.

What else can I do to fix this issue? Thanks!

It could be faulty network cable, I had one that always connected at 100Mbps. Try connected your computer to the Fiberhome and check the connected speed. Fiberhome box should have new network cable.

Set the fiberhome box to combo mode, disable wireless signals, then connect your LAN ethernet to your Asus router which will act as a WAP.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes I tried using the same cables and direct connection. That gives 500Mbps. So it rules out the cable issue.

I'm trying to use the Asus to do the routing and the Fiberhome as just a simple GPON. Cos the Asus does a better job at routing and managing my own internal VLANs.
Doesnt make sense that the Fiberhome is limiting the speed to 100Mbps when its on Bridge mode only.

Then I would suggest connect to the ONR when in bridge mode, check the ethernet or LAN settings. Make sure all auto nego and 1Gb is selected.

Can you post your speedtest screenshot?
If it works in Router mode but not Bridge mode, it cannot be the cable anymore.

Sounds very much like the D-Link firmware bug where the speed is crippled when running in Bridge mode.

If you have a dumb ONU like Huawei or ZTE, use that instead of ONR.
- or -
Request for a technician and get him to change a different brand of ONR + setup in bridge mode

I have an old Huawei from Time Fiber. Do I need to flash it to TMUnifi firmware or can I use the default firmware?

You don't need the TM firmware. Just copy the PLOAM password over.
Then copy all the TM VOIP configuration and the password and the phone should work too

I got this same problem recently on my router running openwrt, it was caused by “flow offloading” not enabled.

In Asus firmware it’s called NAT acceleration? See if it’s on or off

Really? But why? TM don't use any proprietary OMCI.
Time have some kind of secret sauce in the ONT as well?

Couldn't disclose but you can consider that it's somewhat locked down

Thanks for the idea, but newer Asus routers do not have this functionality anymore.

Nope, you can't flash it yourself.

You should try PPPoE with Windows as last testing, and check can it run >100Mbps, then know where is the issues.

Method for Win 11 PPPoE.

Was able to replace the ONU with another one. Now I can get 500Mbps. So confirmed it was some limitation on the Fiberhome Combo box. Thanks for all the help and hints provided.
