I'll be visiting a few ASEAN countries soon. Does anyone have any experience using cross-border QR payments at TH/KH/SG/ID?

1. Does it really work smoothly / seamlessly?
2. Does it work with all local banking apps, or only certain ones, e.g. MAE?
3. How are the currency charges like?
4. Can you rely on this and take limited/none local currency?

Meaning touchngo?

Used Wise Card. These 4 country mall & chain restraurant able to accept Credit Card, Wise card will be ok.
Each Country have thier own QR pay APP but Alipay are only one appear in all these 4 country due to Massive China Tourist.
Go oversea...Just bring Cash + Wise Card..kaotim

What are the conversion fees like charged by Alipay

Our TNGo E-Walletc used Alipay Engine. So just switch it the the country on Top right corner. But to make sure vendor accept Alipay.
Cut everything simple. Cash & Wise Card are the best. Best Convert Rate is Wise.

Seriously dont use e-wallet at Indo & Viet & Laos. Curreny too many Zero. Very easy make mistake!!

I have tried paying Touch n Go in TH, it's hassle-free, there are a few times it's slow depending on the location of the store e.g. no line or very limited line to use mobile phone service to pay.

Most of the time paying with bank card and cash because lazy to open up TNG

Yes for most parts
Still better to install original alipay as backup

Go read carefully which logo to look out for

yeah, use TnGo very easy can just scan QR like normal. conversion rate also not bad.

use GX Bank debit card (1% cashback) and Ryt Bank debit card (1.2% cashback) instead of wise. but i don't know if GX bank will have issues (bring both GX and Wise obviously)

You can use the TnG ewallet app, just remember to select the correct country.

For tng ewallet app, it will only have 1 balance in MYR?
So can only reload with MY cards or banks?
I heard for Grab, if go SG, can reload with SG cards but Grab will create another SGD balance acc.

touch n go pretty widely used in hatyai. any alipay should receive it.

but do remember, its just like in malaysia. not every merchant accept touch n go. not all enable pay to merchant, some just enabled transfer.

and while you are at it, check the daily rewards section, tngo in thai got a lot of nice rewards like go 7-11 purchase min purchase got discount, etc.
much better than the rewards in malaysia lol
