RG Series. Hands down.
RG321MH is a good choice. Don't get a trem fro the lower models. Their tunings all SUCK |

I think Bentley shud have it since they have a wide range of Ibanez, but the question you should ask is whether you have time to check around in other places that most likely can get sell it at a cheaper price..

Btw if you like floating bridge (double-locking trem), I personally think ibanez edge variants are okay (ori edge or edge pro wll definetely cost more - try edge pro II or edge III). Its not that bad actually. Give it a try first.. Do you play like herman li? |

I did try it. It sucked. They didn't let me try out the trem actually........ but after much persuasion, they handed me the trem bar.......
Went out of tune the second I did a dive bomb. Now I see why they don't let us test out the trem. |

blacktrix: On which trem variant did you try that? If its on Edge, I guess you really made a super flat dive bomb!!!

I tried out the lowest end RG like the one I posted there.
But then again, I AM a trem abuser...... But just one dive bomb? That sucks. |

I agree that you shouldn't get Trems for <RM2000 guitars...
I was told by my guitar friends to stay away from low cost trems like Edge III etc. Try to get a Edge-Pro or a Edge Lo-Pro if budget permits. |

The quality of the trem is just one out of many many factors which can affect tuning stability.
The way strings are changed, the age of the strings, the set up of the guitar, and don't forget technique as well, all play a part in tuning stability. Of course, if you do an objective A/B test between the Edge on cheap Ibbiez and those on the Prestige/J.Custom/signature models, the higher-end axes would probably have better tuning stability. But that doesn't necessarily mean the lower end Edges are complete suxxorz either. Ultimately, if your budget is around 1.3k, the Ibanez RGs (those with floating trems) would still be a good buy. C'mon... if the TS had 10k, then sure lah, ask him to get J.Custom lah. Overall, the RG is still a good axe for metal that fits his budget. Having a floating bridge will at least give him the chance to try out techniques like dive-bombs. Sure, he'll have to keep his paws on the fine tuners every once in a while, but that's better than not having a floating trem at all... My RM0.24. Oh, do take this with a pinch of salt since it's coming from a guy who has 2 guitars with floating trems that are only used to stretch strings... |

QUOTE(neotoxin @ Nov 14 2007, 04:55 PM) Yeah.. agreed.. And he'll eventually learn how to (painfully?) set up the guitar first.. (well at least he'll spend more time with his guitar) No kidding! But I think the Edge trems are easier to re-string than LFRs... but setting it up? Gee, there's always Tham.... |
