There's an empty plot of land owned by some rich guy, so he is building a temple in-between a row of houses in a residential neighbourhood.

Is this allowed?

No. Religious buildings need proper zoning. Need to be built on land designated for religious purposes

You should report them to your town board

Depends in residential mgmt. Old taman, neighbourhood around 30 years n above, nobody care.

In fengshui, not good for houses near a temple. Temples should be far away in remote places. Many ppl visiting the temple also inconvenient the neighbours

Last time can even find churchs among houses. something like Assunta church. But that was long time ago. Many places does not allow anymore.

Cannot
The rule was add up in past around 10 years if not mistaken

Residential area cannot be religious center
Else u will see lots of altars , shrine , loudspeaker will emerge

Report to local council
Viral it in TikTok for faster response

Actually some of the churches you see in housing areas are actual legal.
I know a few that are on religious land but they look like a house

The first right approach is to to visit the majlis tempatan for clarification.

If there is no record of a planning approval, then is considered illegal structure.

Since religious matters are sensitive, best your approach the adun or mp to resolve the matter.

Generally religious building need to be on allocated lot (usually not in-between houses), can verify with Majlis Perbandaran & also involve your ADUN cos it might turn to messy dispute.

usually not allowed to build

got one time my gf's housing area someone built his house almost look like a Chinese temple for public use, neighbors had to collect signatures and give it to local Majlis Bandaraya (MB) to protest about it. The guy that newly built it "claimed" that it's only for personal use but there will be certain days that different cars will come in and visit, and it's not just one or two cars. Now it's still there, whether the local MB really close one eye or not then dunno la

If you got the time, report to your local MB about it and discuss with neighbors as well, hope for the construction to put in halt before it really gets to the point of no return
