With that price range, I think you won't be able to get a Gibson or a ESP.
You can try getting their second line brands. Epiphone (Gibson) and LTD (ESP) |

Actually it depends on what type of body shape/feel your friend likes. LesPaul, SG, Superstrat etc.

any guitar around that price range lasts a lifetime if you don't step on it or smash it on the floor. But if you really want 24 frets i think LTD is the way to go. Because i haven't seen and LPs or SGs or any gibsons for the matter with 24 frets. But maybe there are and i just havent seen them. But don't worry, the guitar sifus here will answer your question soon
And then of course the usual question, what sound is he going for? |

For 2.5K Consider used unit. Consider Ibanezes?

I think he meant 24.75 scale, not fret.....
And your friend, what music does he play? Why Epis or LTDs? Oh wait..... he did say Sentimental and Metal I would go for an Epi LP, and then swap in EMGs. This post has been edited by blacktrix: Nov 14 2007, 08:08 AM |

Well, did some research, most of the 24.75 scale guitars from LTD are either the Eclipse series (Cutaway like the Les Paul) or the Explorer........
And even those are going to cost more then the 2.5k mark....... |

He can afford some lower ends LTD I think. To choose between Epis or LTD are really not that hard. Both of them offer similar shapes. If you're looking for the more traditional look and sound, get the Epis. LTDs generally are more extreme looking, fits well with metal playing.
Which one are better... or last longer.. they're subjective to different users.. |

None on the list dude.....
Rm2500 is just for the average guitar class. those listed there are already on the premium side. |

@TS
Is the 24.75 scale a must? I'm just wondering why your friend would care about the scale length but not about the body shape (LP vs strat/superstrat etc) or manufacturer (other than it's got to be ESP or Gibson). And I doubt the ESP KH series, even if it was within your friend's budget, comes with 24.75 scale. |
