apparently me mum bought one of these hydrogen inhaler machine (maybe not the same model & brand) and claimed it will help with her GERD and asthma. she spent RM3k on it.

how to use: inhale using the breathing apparatus, or drink the hydrogen-infused water
alleged health benefits; reduced inflammation, allergies, etc the usual MLM 'all-cure/panacea' claims

the brand & description of this product and it's so called 'health benefits' screamed like typical MLM snake oil to me and made me a bit angry at her for falling for yet another MLM snake oil for so many times, and the sale agents for scamming the elderly.
thinking logically, why would you even need hydrogen-infused air or water when hydrogen is already there in the composition of air and water that's already around you and the water u drink.

but as I googled around more, there are several research articles (not much, but there are a few) of 'oxyhydrogen therapy' and evidences of health benefits from such therapy. One from KKM even; KKM MAHTAS

ok. I watched the video, it mentioned that the hydrogen purity of 99.996%. If you possessed certain science knowledge you will see how BS this is... H2 is extremely flammable at such a purity, it reacts with O2 and create massive fire if not explosion.

and the youtube ads doesn't even mention the source of H2? from electrolysis? from cylinder?

and again, it does not even mentioned if inhale in fully H2 or mixture of H2 + O2? again, our body can't inhale air with less than 19.5% oxygen in it. fully inhale H2 or if the H2 and O2 is not well manage it can make someone faint immediately or even die from it?

If your mother studied chemistry, then she would know her RM 3k is down the drain.

Hydrogen is flammable and almost never exists on its own because it's way too reactive. Out in the open, it'll immediately react with the oxygen, which is an exothermic reaction, so it generates heat, hence explosion.

In 7yo language, basically hydrogen pair are 2 very naughty elements way too excited to bond with someone especially oxygen, and that bond will be so fast and powerful it explodes.

I understand not everyone studied chemistry, and I don't fault your ignorance. I watched my mom buy quantum science medallions and she was so confidently telling me this shit works wonders with our health... 🥹

A cheap handheld nebulizer with 3% hyperneb saline OR a himalayan coarse salt inhaler modded by using a 200-300ml mineral water bottle with poked holes underneath is more effective. Both dry and wet salt therapy user here..

Sorry but I don't have a good solution for you. For my mom's case, she's very healthy conscious and reads/watches a lot of health info. She has fallen prey to many fake info (the frequently forwarded WhatsApp fear mongering messages...), so we educated her for every hoax she shared. We also discussed some real life cases happening around us.

I can only say just chat with her to understand her more, including what she's up to lately. If she's not burning her children's money then it's really out of your hands -- placebo effect is also very effective so let her enjoy her retirement money. 🥹
