1. What is the cheapest insurance for Model Y after 55% NCD?

2. How to transfer current car NCD to a new one?

3. How to purchase a number plate and put it to the car aside from just getting a random one? Assuming I have the money to bid for 1.

4. Is it good enough if I stay in a Condo that charges RM0.9/kWh for a 22kWh charger? I checked ChatGPT they say model Y for other usual charger only accept up to 11kWh only anyway. nto too sure if this is true.

#1 - cheap = not good, from ICE experience P&O is cheap but call >30mins for them to pick up

#2 - my EV settled by agent, just need to pay the remaining balance after pulling out NCD from old car

#3 - jpjebid, register account, pay rm10 to register for bidding, then bid the number you want to, it's cheap, no need to assume you'll have money for one. starts from RM300 if no one outbids you.

#4 - yes good enough, it wont take in more than 11kwh. better yet, just go malls with TDC early in the morning, jalan jalan makan with family, go for a movie, etc.

Hi sorry, to provide more context, I am driving a 18+ year old car from a hand-me-down from my parents. So was thinking to dispose off that car and purchase this car, so technically still my first car purchase hence I am totally not sure about any of the car purchase procedure.

Somemore, the tesla purchase experience is not your usual route of purchasing lagi. hence I was even more paranoid to make this move

1. Roughly the same for any insurance as will be depend on ur sum covered
2.go to ur insurance company, ask to withdraw NCD. U will have to pay diff for that car. But after that the NCD is ‘open’
3.bid thru jpjebid
4. Yes and the price is decent since u dont have ur own charger

1. Can shop around. Mine is etika
2. Just call your insurance agent for your current car and cancel it. You need to top up for premium for your existing car. Then just tell your new insurance agent saying gor NCD they will check from system
3. Go jpj ebid. Then give tesla the document for the winning bid for the number. They will settle the rest
4. Rm0.9 is reasonable

if the current old car is not your name, hence you do not have ncd, unless that car is your name.

After paying the deposit, you’ll need to install the Tesla app on your phone and follow the instructions. From the app, you can select from Tesla’s preferred banking and insurance partners. Just use JPJ app/website to bid your plate number, everything is done online.

RM0.90/kWh considered cheap—just make sure there are no idle fees, so you can leave your car charging overnight without extra cost.

1. Shop around and compare, won’t differ much. Most important is compare the add-ons and sum insured.
2. Call current car insurance to withdraw. Person insured must be same. If your previous car not your name then no NCD.
3. Bid yourself on jpjebid website. Google yourself for instructions. Number can keep for 1 year.
4. 11kW is max Tesla Model Y can take on AC. RM0.90/kWh is not a bad price. It doesn’t matter if your charger provides 22kW or 11kW, you will get the lowest power along the chain. It also doesn’t matter because you pay based on energy (kWh) received. Lower kW, takes longer to get the same kWh.

aiyo die la, just got notified car B is under my name, the current car im driving car A is not under my name, and im planning to dispose car A instead.

is there any way to swap car A and car B (both same insurer) insurance for name changing, so i can dispose car A and potentially transfer car A insurance to tesla?

Unless the previous car is under your name, you cannot transfer the Car A insurance to Car B. For insurance try get a quote from Liberty, base on my research last year they are the cheapest.

1. Car B - transfer the ownership to your family member but have to go thru puspakom process hassle.

Or

2. Car A - Sell Car A, then use the same owner's name to purchase the Tesla.

Just transfer the car B NCD to new tesla and start fresh 0 NCD for car B. I did that for my old accord which I passed to my kid. As long the insured value for car B is much lower than tesla u will have lots of insurance saving

yes, after seeing the comments here seems like that will be the case, either buy new for the car b or go through hassle transfer b to new T then A > B before selling A.



Final question, not sure if this gets the visibility as i did not put in post #1,

1. Is it stupid to not opt for White colour (assuming I want to go for white colour), and get the paint job done outside?

2. Which protection is best for the car? Again please bear with my stupidness haha as this is my first, I was under the assumption PPF is good but nowadays more and more comments i read from XHS shows that PPF is not that good after all. what other options do I have? Many people commented that the side (near tyre) will get scratched easily especially the back part due to the stones/pebbles "scratching" them

if your old car is not your name ..u cannot transfer NCD

unless your new car u also want to use your parents name

The new tesla free color is Grey if not mistaken.

U can't transfer ncd from car A ro car B because different owner

u can transfer out car A NCD before sell and give back to the owner - owner for car A have to put into new or existing car or else every 12 month it will burn 1 tier

then u can take out NCD from car B (your name) ; put into your tesla model Y

then u just top up premium on your car B

My condo and my office both have this CPO 22kw ac charger parking bays. Will mostly just use those.

1. If im you i would just choose the color i want when purchasing it. I regret not picking the ultra red option when i made my purchase.

2. PPF i think would be your best bet, though i never applied any protection. Tesla paint is famous for being really thin, so you will see stone chip everywhere if you did not apply any PPF

1. which tint option is the best?

2. do i need to do PPF? or no need? If no need, what are the other options available?

3. what are the usual "accessories" you guys get that is really useful for the car?

4. do we really need to subscribe the RM40/month internet thingy, the SA in Pavi/Cyber keeps saying it is needed for OTA update?

5. back to financing and insurance, getting loan with whichever bank dont really matter if im going for etika insurance right? (i am probably going for etika since most people recommending that)

I am getting a shade for the glass roof instead of tinting the sun roof. I am also leaning towards tinting and ceramic coating for now

1. Any tint with heat resistant and UV resistant. I tinted the sunroof really dark, I bought sunroof but end up not using because the tint really block the UV and heat.
2. I use front PPF only (Model 3) but regretted not doing full. Always when i on sentry i see people bang the car at the doors.
2a. Sentry uses 7% battery per day if 24/7, so after a few months, i stop using it. Maybe sometimes if park at busy area.
3. Go AliExpress. Got TONNES of accessory like phone. Model Y (2023) is the best selling car ever that year and like iphone/samsung the most famous models got alot to choose from. Get thoe middle compartment holder, hockey puck to jack up the car (tesla doest have jacking point like normal car), front trunk padding/compartment, i can list a whole lot more.
4. Yeah of you want to remote view your car or recall the car remotely. Last time comes with free spotify. now it does not.
5. Doesnt matter. I just took whatever the bank offer.

hello fellow sifus, I am stuck at proforma invoice part ever since booking.

I got a call from an agent from Pavi last saturday right after booking he told me to click until the choosing bank option and told me there will be calls coming in from bank to ask for further action (today).

However, I have yet to get a call, just wondering if its normal to wait a few days. I have also checked with the agent and they told me so long as in my Tesla app there's a Proforma Invoice (inside show VSO), then the details will flow to the bank to contact me?

Please help me if i miss out any action

4. Complain to Tesla about the misinformed SA because this is not needed for OTA update. Even if you have it, you still need wifi to download update. The RM35.99/month premium subscription is for connectivity features like weather visualization, streaming without hotspot and live preview of your sentry camera.

It's better to call your banker yourself. Get a few quotes and compare.

the live sentry camera itself is worth it all.

You can either look for the banker yourself or contact Tesla and get them to contact you. They have their own contact for the banker.

edit: Btw if you look for the banker yourself make sure to let them know on the special rate, i encounter some very busuk they pretend dunno and offer normal rate.

Hi, i have gotten a new quotation based on a "much" lower Sum Insured

Instead of following my Car Value at 100% (original quotation), i have decided to lower it to the max to just 180k to drive down the premium.

This is as below screenshot:

Thinking hard if i should drive down the Windscreen to 6k instead of 8k, it will save me about rm300, and I have seen a lot of post about people fixing the windscreen only using 6k +/- (that is the front, not the top glass, top glass need about 8k)

What do you guys think?

You may refer mine which i PM you for the windscreen amount. The roof is not cheap, but i decided to put PPF for my sunroof, for protection + heat blocking.
I can recommend you the tint shop if you want to consider.
