i've seen some carburator type of bikes at welly batu caves just collecting dust with no people buying, I doubt they are in good condition too after being abandoned that long.
Maybe you can buy at a huge discount.

Its difficult to point you to the right direction without knowing what type of bike you have interest in restoring.

But for starters, join online groups of the same bike so you can leverage the knowledge base. Bikes will undoubtedly come up for sale there also.

working on an old bike is not an easy task nor a cheap one and sourcing parts will be immediate challenge. It depends on how well you want the restoration to go, or how "original" you want it back. Again, you would want to lean on available resources from the group.

You're right...big cost difference in the different types of bikes. Super/sport bikes cost the most. Kapchais are the cheapest. I restored an old beat up Modenas Kriss for about RM1.5k. I bought it for RM800. Then I sold it as it was too slow hahahaha biggrin.gif

TS needs to know 1. Budget and the 2. What type of bike he wants to restore. Then only can move forward.

can consider police lelong
or, before anything, come up with some concept first
gotta choose a platform that you like, want, and more versatile to work on
otherwise later you'll end up with slapping a few pieces of metal together and call it a custom job, which is just a road hazard on two wheels

are you familiar with electrical wiring work? that kind of thing

all the best in your pursuit

Thanks. Where do i get info on police lelong?

Hate wiring loom especially those with ECM tuning. Other than that I am OK. Love old school harness though, you can basically rebuild it with normal wires smile.gif

Restoration is tearing it down to the bearings and building it up by my definition.

My preference, mid to big size but smaller cc. can consider. A bike to me is a bike... too many segregations these days which fundamentally is still a machine with 2 wheels no matter how you put it.

The loves come in when it all come together and starts... and then ... adventure time.

search for "lelong awam motosikal"
there are lelong for JPJ and polis, and start to tune in for updates
watch some youtubes, to prepare

bike generally don't call it ECM, referred to as ECU
