Would like to ask if anyone here working at local bank as program manager? What's the the difference with project manager?

Mind share the job scope of program manager? Interviewed recently for project manager at a local bank, but offered program manager instead.

u shud confirm with HR and your soon to be boss on your role, expected responsibilities and scope

we can give u a definition but it won't matter as u report to your future boss, not us

Asked HR when offered the role, HR said job scope is the same with project manager. Reporting to the same boss too. Maybe the for this bank, job scope is the same, but other banks are different? Just wanted to have info on that

From PMP point of view, Program Manager oversees the execution of different projects if I am not mistaken.

Yep thats what in my mind too, but when asked HR specifically, HR said job scope the same with project manager

Some time HR just create the position based on what they think they know. Important is follow the official JD from HR, hahaha.

i do think this is the case, since i've checked both job description for both position in in Linkedin is the same. Maybe just to fill in headcount.

from what I read from other sources it is as simple as Program Manager manages other Project Manager

for career growth, I will take it if the title is Program Manager, in PMP perspective, Program Manager is higher rank than Proj Mgr. I can always downgrade from Prog Mgr to Proj Mgr.

no harm to try, Roles & Responsibility can always nego. That's the title that attractive in future.

Program Manager is all about portfolio management, u can self learn via cousera or you pay for it, it is good investment thou.
