Hi there,
I'm planning to get back into PC gaming after 20 years. I'm completely out of touch with modern PC gaming. So, today I went to a shop and saw a few but I have my eyes on one rig. Can you guys help me to see if the specs below are worth the price? I'm hoping to run the latest single player games at 1440p 120hz at least.

1. AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
2. Gigabyte AMD AM5 B650M Gaming Plus WiFi
3. Kingston Fury 32GB DDR5 (6000MT/s 16GB*2)
4. Kingston M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe Gen4 NV3 1TB
5. VGA PALIT nVidia RTX5080 16GB GDDR7
6. FSP VITA GM 1000W 80PLUS Power Supply
7. Tecware Edge Air ATX Casing
8. Cooler ID-CoolingFX Liquid Cooling

*No keyboard & mouse, Windows 11 Trial only*

Price: RM10,232

Don't get Palit AiB.
Also don't need liquid cooling, nowadays good air cooler perform better than liquid cooler.

Others are quite good.

Thank you. What other GPU brand (for 5080) do you recommend if don't want Palit? notworthy.gif

DRAMless SSD for RM10k rig? At least get a KC3000. RAM timing not specified. CL30 is preferred. Thermalright Royal Pretor 130 will make that AIO looks silly. Can afford a 5080 but use low end casing? Get Lian Li Lancool 207.

About nearly there, just
2. change mobo to MSI B650M Gaming PLUS Wifi (make sure its the PLUS version!) / or else B850M Gaming PLUS Wifi
4. change that pisspoor DRAMless QLC bottom tier SSD to something with DRAM (ie Adata XPG S70 blade or Kingston KC3000)
8. X3D CPU cooling not so demand, can go with air tower Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE for easier peace of mind

As for GPU just dont get Asus, overpriced but crappy RMA treatment.

The 5080 is way too expensive for what it offers IMHO - especially when you are considering that the card offers a ~13% performance advantage over the 5070 Ti at a ~42% price premium (using TMT prices and Hardware Unboxed benchmarks) sweat.gif
If you are willing to live with 'worse' RT performance you can even get a RX 9070XT for even less (with very comparable raster performance to the 5070 Ti) icon_idea.gif

1TB storage for a 10K machine? Consider that modern AAA titles can take up 100GB+ I'd definitely recommend you to go for a 2TB drive at the very minimum, preferably with a DRAM cache like what TristanX suggested icon_idea.gif

Another suggestion - I think it might be a better idea to go for an ATX motherboard over a mATX one as they tend to offer more expansion for future use cases icon_idea.gif

Tip: you might want to try surveying for current GPU prices at a few brick and mortar shops around your area, sometimes you can get GPUs at a cheaper price than what the online retailers charge icon_idea.gif

Even the whole build screams 'I want the cheapest 7800X3D+5080 PC' (not condescending TS of course) icon_rolleyes.gif

TBH considering TS needs and the gaming efficiency of 7800X3D, the board TS is planning to buy is actually plenty sufficient icon_idea.gif
But why limit to such boards when TS has a healthy budget to work with? sweat.gif

That mobo VRM insufficient for high powered Ryzens 7 & 9. For a rm10k PC its pisspoor and the MSI board is a much better option for not a lot of money. Plus also my suspicion on its BIOS but thats beside it.

Decent MATX mobos has a lot of features built in, inc wifi. The only reason you want ATX these days is for more PCIE slots (for wat? SLI is dead), or more M2 SSD slots (just by a 4/8TB SSD lah, its the same cost as multiple 2TB SSDs, so why need so many?)

To each their own, Palit & PNY are value oriented AIB so built quality wont be as good say Asus or MSI so higher failures from them can be expected. Honestly just get the cheapest will do; ie China AIB Colorful, Manli, Yeston, Galax.... except Giga GPUs seems like cheap built but not cheap price sweat.gif

Nah, those are too suspiciously cheap and I won't bet on them. Palit card isn't cheaper than MSI a lot.
And... surprise, surprise, Galax is run by Palit.

biggrin.gif TS's budget is definitely too high for this, better off with 9070XT / 5070 Ti as starting point.
