In yet another case of customers alleging they were overcharged for their meal, this time it involved a man accusing a popular stall in Taman Sentosa, Johor, of doing the same.

However, the vendor has since addressed the accusation, saying the portion he took justified the pricing.
‘Felt like I got slapped’

In a Facebook post shared by the man, he wrote that he was stunned when he was charged RM30.20 for his meal, which consisted of white rice, curry chicken, braised pork, egg, and vegetables.

Following the man’s claim, the vendor provided an itemised breakdown of his meal which led to the RM30.20 price tag, inclusive of a 6% Sales and Services (SST) tax:

White rice RM3.50

Curry chicken (small pieces) RM5

Braised egg RM1.50

Vegetables RM2.50

Braised pork RM15

Tea RM1

Pork very mahal now you don’t know meh

Next time as customer, if you feel that you've been overcharged, just leave the plate there untouched and walk away. Let the stall deal with the waste.

even in bukit bintang, i can find RM8 nasi ayam kunyit that for some is a 2 person portion meal

There is 1 mixed rice shop near me that started to do that. Lots of complaint also.

It's even more arbitrary I tell you. Different meat got different weight, bone vs boneless, sos vs no sos. Nobody knows how they calculate. Just that the price increased even more. Eventually customers go buy elsewhere.

The fairest method is no self service scoop by stall helper himself. State specifically on the price list x number of vege + y number of meat combo = how much scoop by helper at the front of the stall.

Large piece of meat such as fried chicken/drumstick goes by per piece price. Rice also by scoop and portion size.

Should put down the plate and go away.

Ironically Panda Express and other Chinese takeaway restaurants in western countries do it this way.

To avoid these kind of issue, the owner should scoop it for customer instead of customer scooping it. Like the Hong Kong “this this” rice.

Nah, they will say 2,3 scoops. For them 1 scoop is based on the size of their spoon, try and see. I kena a few times in different shops before, so better to go by pieces like pork ribs or chicken, they also pandai play games nowadays. JB prices a bit gila, they think all locals kaya like sinkie, in 1993 when working there, paid RM5 for chicken rice when Pg was RM1.80 only.

2 vege dish + 1 meat = X

2 meat dish + 1 vege = Y

+1 egg = Add Z and so on...

Scoop is done by staff themselves to standardize the amount given.

HK style chap fan is the most professional way of handling.

if they see it's a lot, they just charge RM1 more
returning customer is more important than 1 time profit

Is this restaurant lar, last time is road side stall also quite expensive liao, now open shop even more expensive, a lot ppl complain already, hnggh lady boss even make video to scold back the customer. Actually nothing special, just they have freshly fried chicken at last time road side stall, they have open wok fried chicken on the spot but in shop now i dont think have liao.

I think I got 10 years didn't eat mixed rice already..

Economy rice now expensive already la. Today i buy at the cheap place that has price tag on it. Used to be RM 3 for many type of chicken stir fried in some sauce. But i did not go to this place for more than 6 months.

Today i passed by and buy..... its RM4.20!!!!
