KUALA LUMPUR: The government will proceed with the RON95 fuel subsidy rationalisation, as it is crucial for the country, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said there is no issue of a RON95 price increase affecting the majority of Malaysians.

He said the implementation of the subsidy rationalisation would ensure sufficient resources to assist the poor, enhance the quality of education, and provide better public services, including healthcare.

"Whatever the opposition says is just a gimmick, a desperate attempt to portray the people as suffering, to fuel more negative narratives.

"What we need are positive and encouraging developments to propel our economy forward.

There is no issue of a fuel price hike for the vast majority, 85 to 90 per cent of our population," he told reporters after officiating Energy Asia 2025 here today.

If 85% not affected then you will hardly see any traffic reduction. If need to scan IC to get subsidized petrol, however, you see massive traffic in petrol stations and roads leading to them.

I think the best is to use how many L full tank can go. My car can go 800+ (city highway mixed), but because I have about >60L per full tank. My other car can go ~500+ full tank which has 42L, but I'm pump it around 35L each time

You’re right. But I said that because I googled already the fuel tank size for his car, which is 40l vs my car which is 44l, but I pump around 38l to get to 7xxkm. Since it is a hybrid, I think the figure is quite low with less 4l.

What if "we" don't want to assist since it is only B99 / M0.9 / T0.1 now?

Hows the servicing cost? Higher than normal ICE? Coz need to service and maintain both system also…
*
servicing is same as an ICE car, the hybrid system no need to service.
a hybrid car have ICE components + hybrid components

and hybrid components such as DC converter, fan etc costs alot to change when they have used up their lifespan. its more expensive than changing the hybrid battery itself.

His budget is the one breaking world record, 80% used for administrative (from 60+), only about 20% for development, no? If the money in Bank Negara, why RM plunge to the 2nd lowest in history when he is FM. It was the lowest during his 1st stint as FM. Coincident?

Btw, is GST Goods and Services Tax or General Services Tax? He is asking for "kursus" for those thinking GST = Goods and Services Tax. Who is paying GST and SST? Same people?

KUALA LUMPUR: The government will proceed with the RON95 fuel subsidy rationalisation, as it is crucial for the country, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said there is no issue of a RON95 price increase affecting the majority of Malaysians.

He said the implementation of the subsidy rationalisation would ensure sufficient resources to assist the poor, enhance the quality of education, and provide better public services, including healthcare.

"Whatever the opposition says is just a gimmick, a desperate attempt to portray the people as suffering, to fuel more negative narratives.[COLOR=red]

"What we need are positive and encouraging developments to propel our economy forward.

There is no issue of a fuel price hike for the vast majority, 85 to 90 per cent of our population," he told reporters after officiating Energy Asia 2025 here today.

It depends on your car model

Instead of listening to others, you should try on your own car

Unker tested on unker's conti car

Ron97 mpg is 5.6l per 100km
Ron95 mpg is 6.8l per 100km

But there's no significant difference on toyota car, both gave 10.x l per 100km mpg

Even up 10% also cheaper than petrol

My current emas 7 is about RM0.10/km, using home charger with rate RM0.57/kwh, drove 300km charge about RM30+

Whereby my old myvi with fuel consumption at town driving about 13km/l, per km is about RM0.16.

If later on government remove fuel subsidy and i'm not entitle for any subsidy, my fuel cost will spike to RM0.23/km (Assuming ron95 RM3 per litre)

look far out....

how your emas going to be in 5 years time? can the same amount give the same millage?

After 7 years battery rosak... what is the cost????

what is the second hand value for your car after 5 years? can it beat petrol car value????

how much time you need to waste on the road if you use it for travel?

the way you reply, i doubt you even plan for your future wealth growth tongue.gif

Battery warranty 8 years with 160k km, even if battery rosak and after warranty, just go third party workshop and diagnose which battery pack spoil and replace it only.

Second car value again, i'm intend to use for 10-15 years, by that time most car only has about 10-20% 2nd hand value of the original price.

Waste what time? DC charger is available at whole PLUS highway, from 30-80% take only 30mins.

I already foresee i'm not entitle for fuel subsidy and in future the government will impose carbon tax on ICE car or the petrol, by that time let's see how much it cost for u to drive with ICE car.

And oh ya, recently i read one post, the first gen of LFP battery on BYD Han, after using for 3 years and 600,000km, the SOH of the battery still at 90%.

anyway, there still many downside....

example, for 30min charging is just non peak hours...

i hv family, and most time we travelling during holiday time...

imagine travel during CNY or Hari Raya on highway with EV ... find charger might hv issue in future like that china is facing now....

not only wasting time to find charge.. you also need to spend time planning properly for a trip and make sure there is EV charge surrounding..

I did a lot research recently as i plan to replace my wife car... EV still not a good choice.. unless just to try out what is the fun of driving EV.. other that that.. i dont see benefit yet .. tongue.gif

When come to travelling long distances, EV cannot match ICE in term of convenience.
For instance, we travel early to avoid traffic jam towards PG.
Can drop by any favourite place for breakfast & lunch without any worries
With EV, those place will be a thing of the past. Need to eat around those EV chargers.
If want to outpace those jam timings also cannot if take in charging time and going favourites eat place.
All this add up the journeys time.

Of cos can try using in car range available to estimate journeys but the anxiety kill off the mood of carefree travelling

The best of both worlds is hybrid but they come with both set of it's problem too

Won't reduce, it's still considered a necessity.

Shopping mall food prices RM30-40/pax, still packed with people.

For the first month will complain and bark, next month everything will be back to normal. Life goes on.

The poor and unemployed pays tax but they are also paid BR1M or whatever the gov names now. And most essential food stuff are GST free. It is fair that everyone plays a part to pay tax, and not only a portion of the employed pays tax. Heck even those who works but under tax paying brackets do not pay taxes.

Why did you single out Kelantan? Just do it for the whole country. But maybe give flexibility to states based on taxes received. Higher collecting states gets more bR1M etc to encourage them to force their citizens to work or get out of the poor segment.

stop driving to KL since like 10-12 years ago, even last time with Komuter. 2013-14, 630am can be considered early and no traffic jam, except if heading at 7 am, then jam. Nowadays, 620am is already packed like 7am, especially Cheras Grand Saga highway.

No more aggressive mode when driving when encountering any drivers cutting the queue line.

For those trying to defend the indefensible, he was also FM during his stint in BN1.0(which ended in recession and lowest MYR vs USD exchange…sound similar now with the USD vs MYR situation last year?), but he has Atuk and team to ‘hide his incompetence’ then. But now, he has been exposed totally!

No point trying to predict what is going to happen as that was water under the bridge. What is important is present and how things are handled. U decide if our economic situation has been handled in a proper and competently. I know what my answers are. You?

Let’s hope for the better. I see better coordination and control with FM2 in place. Could it be better? Donno but let’s wait and see.

he wants to cut subsidies for all, cz for him and madani, the funds generated from taxes alone (he mentioned my times the tax collection from our citizens are too low) are not enough to support his plan. That's why madani keep on pressing the Petronas coffee even when the Oil prices are not that high, sothe profit after tax from Petronas is affected, but they keep taking the same high percentage from it, again cz collection from tax is not enough.

then now wanna put SST to fruits and stuff. When all now by doing GST (or naming it VAT), can solve the majority of the above issues. But his stubborn doing GST is weird.

“Ask the secretary-general of the Economy Ministry or Finance Ministry - yes, GST is better and simpler. Six percent - everyone pays. But let me ask if  it’s six percent across the board, why should the poor and unemployed pay?” asked Anwar.

some say sst complicated got  0% 6% 10% etc, and proposed 3% GST flat

You think so? You really have so much faith in PMX and his cabinet… 😂😂😂😂😂

Honestly, that 5 or 10% on fruits is not going to affect a lot but the act of taxing these to get tax monies to run the gov is worrying. Instead, he shd be looking at how our tax monie r leaking into like civil servants salaries ( overbloated), pensions, MPs salaries and benefits, gov benefits etc. not to mention losses via GLCs, unnecessary spendings on gov expenses that does not add value to the economy…..every cents spent must bring in benefits ideally.

It's not only that

SST, each time got small increase, those manufacturers/distributors go: "oh time to increase the prices *evil laugh*"

This is typically deterred with GST

Targeted subsidy will only result in many cases of gross injustice due to inaccurate income information, and some entitled may be excluded and many not entitled receiving it.

Just remove for everyone. Or better still, reduce the subsidy amount equally for everyone and get the same savings as targeted subsidy would bring in. Why does it have to be full subsidy or zero subsidy?
