The article did mention it, but Its more than dumb filler sentences than anything meaningful. The actual concern is very minor, more towards handler than consumer. Not to mention karbaid does not come into contact with fruit also.

There were other 'bigger' fabricated concern about karbaid use, but that also stems from lack of understanding and myth about acetylene.

Ahhh... that explains how it exploded.
