The Doctor Who Appreciation Society is saddened to hear of the passing of Pik-Sen Lim.

Pik-Sen is best remembered by Doctor Who fans for her striking performance as Captain Chin Lee in the 1971 serial The Mind of Evil. She also found wider recognition for her role as Chung Su-Lee in the sitcom Mind Your Language. As the British Film Institute once noted, she was “the most familiar Chinese actor on British television screens in the 1970s and 80s.”

Pik-sen was married to writer Don Houghton, who penned The Mind of Evil as well as Inferno.

She was a valued guest at several DWAS events over the years, most recently at her last appearance, Projections in Time: Recall UNIT in November. It was always a joy to have her with us.

Our thoughts are with her daughter Sara, and with her family and friends. RIP.
