Why no love for the Honda City hybrid E:Hev RS ?
Both City and Nissan are hybrid, albeit using a slightly different drive technique.
But Honda has the upper hand in RV, spare parts availability, and etc...

QUOTE(ssmui @ Jun 18 2025, 11:28 AM) Why no love for the Honda City hybrid E:Hev RS ? In simplest choice of words, there are people who prefer chocolate flavoured ice cream while there will be people who prefer vanilla flavour. Both City and Nissan are hybrid, albeit using a slightly different drive technique. But Honda has the upper hand in RV, spare parts availability, and etc... Honda (or any other brands) may be better in resale value, spare parts availability, but Nissan will be better in other areas. It depends on which criteria is more important to the person. FWIW there are many factors that will influence the decision of the prospective owner. For me, first and foremost is the exterior looks. Even without considering other factors, the Honda City is already out if based on the looks. There are other factors too on the downside of the Honda that are not worth mentioning, though I have mentioned it several times already on other threads. |

FWIW resale value of a vehicle is not really important to me although everyone would want their vehicle to fetch a higher price. If it's important, I wouldn't have bought the Ford Focus earlier. Bought for more than RM100k and sold for RM12k to the dealer.
I look at the aspects of a car which I like in the selection of a new vehicle, not RV. My way of doing things is I try to keep the budget for a new vehicle fairly low, usually around RM130k or lower, and the purchase is mostly cash-basis. |

QUOTE(edex @ Jun 9 2025, 09:31 AM) 2. i never drive almera before. compare to city, kicks engine is quiet. Last question if you don't mind, since impressions based on long-term experience are always better than short test-drives. test drive CC, engine is noisy. Only hear engine when cold start in the morning and hard pedal press May I ask how do you rate the noise from the road and suspension of the Kicks? Say when the vehicle goes over some bad surfaced roads, or yellow/red lines along certain stretches of roads suggesting the driver to slow down the vehicle. One will hear loud noises from vehicles with poor soundproofing when going over these surfaces. Does it sound quieter with the Nissan Kicks than your previous Honda City, or any other vehicle? It's either loud noises from the roads or suspension when the vehicle goes over bad, irregular or uneven surface of poor roads, or you hear a loud "thud, thud, thud, thud, thud" sound when the vehicle goes over yellow or red lines(speed reducing lines) on the certain stretches of the roads. You may hear all these noises in vehicles with good soundproofing but the difference is these noises will be significantly reduced or muted. |

Just found out from this article that the Impul bodykit and Activ Package are all given for free at this moment.
https://paultann.org/2025/05/08/nissan-kick...18-inch-alloys/ (delete "n" from paultann to access page after clicking the link) Also, if I'm not mistaken, there is additional RM7k cash rebate on top of these free bodykit and packages. Quite worth it I woud say. The Impul and Activ packages are advertised at RM5k and RM8.5k, total would be RM13.5k now given for free. However, the RM13.5k gimmick probably worth only RM5k to 8k actual value, still good value. |

I'm not sure which is service package as there are Impul and Activ packages. I would think that as long as there's money, a purchase would not be a problem. |

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Jun 23 2025, 10:22 AM) Last question if you don't mind, since impressions based on long-term experience are always better than short test-drives. I own a Kicks for 6 months already. Cabin noise is minimal, it is a very quiet car especially when you drive santai up to 90 km/h. When you accelerate, the engine rev will go up thats the time you can notice the engine is running. The main noise is from the road esp uneven rough road. I think changing to better tyre will mitigate this as it only come in Yokohama. Suspension is nice when over bump or unevenness.May I ask how do you rate the noise from the road and suspension of the Kicks? This is my 6th car and 3rd most expensive one but I like driving this the most. It is very enjoyable with good torque as its drive motor is fully EV. I like the size coz easy to park and fits my lifestyle now. There is no range anxiety and easily over 20km/l usually between 22-26 in city. For highway/urban intercity usually got around 19km/l average. This post has been edited by konami: Jul 20 2025, 05:18 PM SportyHandling liked this post

I think changing to better tyre will mitigate this as it only come in Yokohama. Suspension is nice when over bump or unevenness. Thanks, that is good to know and surely useful. As I have suspected, the main noises are mainly from the road particularly uneven rough road as you have mentioned as the noises are combined from the poor road surface, tyres and suspension. Any car will show these noises and the better ones which have more soundproofing at the bottom or better tyres and suspension will be quieter. Yokohama tyres should be quiet especially if it's the quiet type. I don't really like driving big cars D-segment or large SUV or MPV and find C-segment or larger B-segment such as the Kicks to be just right. Easy to drive, easy to park. Larger SUVs may not have much advantage other than more space, and it's only MPVs with a 3rd row will have the advantage of fitting more people and specifically cater to this requirement. The good torque of the Kicks is already mentioned several times in reviews and is expected since there is no engine but an electrically-driven motor driving the vehicle. I guess people will need to drive the vehicle to experience the good torque or pickup for themselves. Good to know the fuel economy of the Kicks is good. The Almera was reported to have good fuel efficiency too but I find it to be just average, not really spectacular. Perhaps it has a smaller fuel tank when compared to other cars in that the fuel are used up faster so more frequent visits to the petrol stations are required. |

I'm using City hb ehev now, morning cold start noisier than my ice car 🤣Both City and Nissan are hybrid, albeit using a slightly different drive technique. But Honda has the upper hand in RV, spare parts availability, and etc... But acceleration, fuel saving is really nice. Average 21 to 22km/l. Now I'm thinking to replace my suv car to hybrid. In Malaysia, Japan brand, only kicks vs cc.. |

QUOTE(s@ni @ Aug 3 2025, 12:54 AM) Keep in mind that although the Nissan Kicks can be considered as a hybrid, the system is different from other common hybrids such as Toyota Corolla Cross. Common hybrids such as Corolla Cross will have the petrol engine and electric motor(driven by battery) to run the car. The Kicks is running solely on the electric motor as the petrol engine is only used to charge the battery to provide power to the electric motor. |

However since got somebody gonna seat at the rear, I'm going to the showroom to check out in details. |
