People saying 2.5NA + 8 speed + RWD platform + CBU from Japan is expensive, remember how much the new Harrier is selling for? That is only 2.0NA + CVT.

You can argue the engine is underpowered but there is nothing wrong with the price. Obviously when you compare with Chinese brands in terms of bang for buck confirm lose, but sometimes buying a car is looking beyond the spec sheet.

Also conlanfirm this looks and feels much better inside compared to Harrier or CRV

Buy already, you can tell people you drive a XC60 which sounds more expensive. Then when you bring them to your car, you say oops I mean CX60.

Malaysia market has shown they don't want new engine

Mazda cx8 2.5 NA sold most. Mazda 6 2.0 sold most, Mazda 3 1.5 sold most. basically the real ones buying are choosing smallest engine combo

if 10years ago, we all ok with Harrier 2.4 NA isnt it ,
Today seems like not acceptable, used to be only rival is bmw / mercedes SUV.
Today , we have China car for comparison, ppl change the way to view the product =/
Mazda & Toyota still old skol, for old skol market who still appreciate them.

Mazda cx-60 inline 6 engine option is 3.3L .
Nobody wants to pay RM2.1k roadtax a year for Semenanjung price.
You look at rich Vellfire users , most ppl buy 2.5L engine despite so underpowered. V6 ones are minority.

NA engine still have its charm. Linear power depending on how much throttle you apply. No turbo lag and seldom any reliability issues

That is because these ppl have not tried modern day downsized turbo engines that is initially popularized by Volkswagen.
Once they feel the flat torque curve starting from low rpm , their opinion will change instantly.

Turbo lag is hardly a thing for common passenger cars these days. Peak torque available below 2000rpm for petrol engines to 4000+ rpm. That is the range most ppl operate their engines. Turbo lag is a 90's thing and heavily modified engines.

it still adds another layer of complexity. turbo engines run hotter which accelerates engine wear and oil degradation. there's no way around this.

but of course its not gonna be an issue for someone who changes car every 5 - 7 years and maintains their car accordingly

Actually, for Mazda 3, 1.5L engine for 1.4 tons car is really underpower. It's like driving a Mazda 2 with full passenger + luggage.

2.5L for 2 tons car would be slightly sluggish, but not as bad as 1.5L Mazda 3. Only slightly worse than 2.0L CX-5.

That one really underpower lah. The 1.5 is meant for Mazda 2 only. Mazda 3 needs the 2.0 at least. But if someone is stuck in traffic most of the time I reckon the 1.5 is still ok. Highway and uphill roads will be a struggle

For CX60 my main point was if people are ok with Harrier being 2.0 NA + CVT, then CX60 should be no issues with the 2.5 NA

Yes. Good option for town car.

But town car at 120k is out of reach for most people.

I was driving my CX-30 for 5 days when I went back to my hometown, then came back to Shah Ale and drove my Mazda 2, suddenly I missed the extra power. Can't imagine driving 1.5L Mazda 3 which has the similar curb weight as CX-30.
