I’m considering buying a half-built house with the foundation, walls, and roof already completed.
The previous owner bought the land and started building, but construction stopped halfway due to a relationship issue.

What should I look out for in this kind of situation? Has anyone had similar experience dealing with the purchase of a half-completed property? Would really appreciate any advice or insights.

1. Check for local authority approval letter, or any issues with it.
2. Complete architectural plan from seller.
3. Check for any outstanding payment to contractors.
4. Check with neighbours regarding any issues regarding the construction.

If you decide to purchase and prior to signing the agreement, seek professional advise and do joint site inspections.

I think very high possibility that is no CCC granted, so basically it will involve many hidden costing.

Can use back the previous drawing from architect? If not you need to hire an architect to draw back.

The contractor is it CIDB registered and active contractor? If not you might need to hire new CIDB contractor.

Anyhow the local council rules might different in each area, better to consult lawyer before you give booking.

Most of the contractor and architect do not want to continous others' project, unless you really can pay extra or demolish and rebuild.

For the own build property without CCC, you will face big problem in future

most importantly, if the previous architect dont want to continue the job , make sure they sign off the discharge of their service .

they dont discharge , you gonna have big headache

Too much headache...

And cost involved also is higher especially if the project is abandoned very long period....
