And using a case would fix it but going caseless just feels too nice haha

I think if you trade in to buy any from 17 series, will get this extra credit.

Last year I traded mine to another retailer via CompAsia, who had a similar trade in promo for buying 16 series

I know there was a company that released two-piece metal bumper that covers the top and bottom but it’s so chunky lol

Actually ah I slightly dilemma with my 16PM, tempted to upgrade. but after sometime decided not to since I still have one year left on my instalments heheh.

Not to mention that Apple kind of broke their 3-year cycle on the 17. Since they usually focus on design (X, 12, 15), then performance (XS, 13, 16), then camera (11, 14, 17) - but this year macam a bit haywire the pattern because the 17 also has new design (aluminium and plateau) and better performance (super A19 Pro chip with vapour chamber) alongside the expected camera upgrades (improved selfie and telephoto lenses)

Makes me wonder whether they will stick to their pattern to focus on a really big performance update next year (considering it will be the 20th generation processor); or just start new pattern since next next year will be 20th generation iPhone (and that should be a really special change in design like the X was)

IMO it's almost perfect as is - I would prefer if it was uniformly thick around the plateau and doesn't cover the sides. Then it would be perfect for going caseless. Rough mockup:

Fully agree, found out today the CD store at my workplace has the 17 series on display and the 17 Pro Max feels so much nicer to hold and feel than my 16 Pro Max (I don’t use cases). Got poisoned back into deciding whether I should upgrade or not 😭

I got poisoned from this thread and from holding demo unit at Apple TRX yesterday. Since I bought from DirectD last year also, I just saja-saja ask them if they had walk in stock for 17PM. Mana tahu they reply that they had one unit each of walk-in stock for 17PM 512 GB in Blue and Orange today lol

Another plus point - they accepted my 16PM 512 GB Desert Titanium for trade in at their maximum RM 3500 too, even though it had 3-4 micro scratches near the edge of the screen and 1 at one corner of the metal sides.

But one minus point is that they tried to upsell me to take fibre glass SP + original Apple case + charger if I wanted to take home the phone today. This didn’t happen last year when I walked in on Day 1 because they said the unit they gave me was “someone else’s preorder unit that was planned to deliver next week but they only paid deposit so far”. Luckily I managed to negotiate with them down to 'just' a RM 99 screen protector, but considering I also got AppleCare+ it was a waste lol (told them to install it on my cousin's 17 standard that he got from walking into Maxis TRX yesterday.

Would have “saved” RM 600 if I ordered with Apple, but then they didn’t have stock in store when I checked online today (and in-store at Apple TRX yesterday) - and I didn’t want to wait one month since I’m going on holiday next week haha. Definitely recommend at least WhatsApping them if they have walk in stocks if your preorders are stuck lol

Maybe temporarily transfer some money to another bank that isn’t mafan, like HSBC… or even touch n go ewallet? Those two apps were simple for me to login and start paying with them again - not like Maybank. Or use the cards added in Apple Pay - use the call method to verify the cards instead of using MAE app

Ahh understood understood. On Saturday when I went to TRX I thought I overheard one of the employees say that it can be renewed. Maybe I heard incorrectly haha. And re: the video she said it was a display issue. Maybe when he dropped the phone and cracked the glass, the display also rosak a bit - could be why she offered to ganti new phone instead of just replacing the glass. But too bad she said takda stock though, will need to baby my phone for a few weeks even if got ACP just in case 🫠

My search is over… I found a metal piece we can slap onto the camera plateau to make it entirely flat - no more wobble when using my phone on a table !!

Got it from AliExpress for RM 25. But it came with a bumper I’m not gonna use lol. So whoever wants the metal bumper feel free to PM me and I’ll send it to you for free (just cover shipping haha)

The rest of my phone is caseless so it's still obvious I use a 17 hahah

But it feels so nice to use it on a table now so I don't really care

put me down for 6 then

Will be difficult to provide pics since I only have one phone haha. But thank God, so far so good.

FYI I don't baby my phone sangat, just use only (not really worried about micro-scratches or battery health because Apple trade-in will still give max value)
