The relationship with Suzuki was too short, only the short lived Ertiga 1.4 which would have given the Avanza a tough fight. Else Perodua would have competed with Proton Swift, Jimny, Vitara..

proton pre-geely was problematic because of power train right? the fuel guzzling engine and punch cvt. but one thing proton did especially under syed zainal was a R&D heavily on EV 15 years ago. they basically look forward to prepare for post-ICE era. but najib admin at that time had it enough with proton and ask khazanah to sell to other party with agreement to do JV with any foreign entity.

if only proton able to do EV on its own,.... whatever.

X50 will be 4 cylinder turbo this time . But got to sell all current X50 before new one can launch.

Just looking for a second car for neighborhood drive and short distance drive

the vehicles were godawful, EXCEPT the 1st gen Saga. That Orion family engine is good as a workhorse, which explains why many are still on the road and plentiful of spare parts around!

What do you all think would happen if Proton partnered with VW instead of Geely?

We have perodua doing EV on their own. Their soon to he launced EV is not a toyota/daihatsu clone
